War Sovereign Soaring The Heavens

“Eldest Senior Sister did not comprehend the law of death previously?”

Hu Mei, Wen Wan’er, Ouyang Qi Fei, and Hong Fei turned to look at Lu Ji in unison, shocked,

“Eldest Senior Sister only switched to comprehending the law of death after becoming a prodigious disciple.” Lu Ji smiled faintly as he looked at his confused juniors. A hint of nostalgia could be seen on his face as he continued to say, “It’s only normal that none of you knew about it… After all, you haven’t joined us. There were only Eldest Senior Sister and me at that time.”

Still stunned, Hong Fei asked, Hong Fei was stunned as he looked at Lu Ji. “Second Senior Brother, Eldest Senior Sister is highly skilled in the law of death. Not only did she comprehend all the profundities to the mastery stage, but she also can fuse three profundities. I can’t believe she only began to comprehend the law of death after becoming a prodigious disciple!”

On the contrary, Duan Ling Tian was not shocked since he knew nothing about their Eldest Senior Sister at all.

“Before Eldest Senior Sister started to comprehend the law of death, she had comprehended many profundities from the law of water to mastery stage as well,” Lu Ji added.

This time, not only Hong Fei and the others were shocked, Duan Ling Tian and Huan’er were shocked as well.

‘The mysterious Eldest Senior Sister comprehended many profundities from the law of water to the mastery stage before she started comprehending the law of death?’ Duan Ling Tian had assumed his comprehension skill and talent in regard to comprehending the law of space was incredibly rare. It seemed like that was not entirely the case. “Moreover, I relied on the Supreme Powerhouse Divinity to comprehend the law of space… Even if Eldest Senior Sister had some fortuitous encounters, it’s unlikely to be able to compare to the Supreme Powerhouse Divinity.”

With this new information, a sense of reverence toward his Eldest Senior Sister began to take root in Duan Ling Tian’s heart.

…

When Duan Ling Tian returned to Xu Lang’s cultivation ground, he returned to his cultivation place with Huan’er after bidding farewell to his seniors.

“Brother Ling Tian,” Huan’er called out with unconcealed excitement.

How could Duan Ling Tian not know what Huan’er was thinking about? He smiled faintly and said, “I’ll speak to Sixth Senior Brother and find out how to become a Thousand Chain Prison’s warden.”

After speaking to Hong Fei through his Soul Pearl, Duan Ling Tian found it was rather simple for a prodigious disciple to become a warden of the Thousand Chain Prison through his Soul Pearl. All he needed to do was sign up for the position, and when there was a vacancy, he would be called up for duty. The permanence of the position naturally depended on the type of vacancy as well. Sometimes, there were wardens who had personal matters to attend to such as going into closed-door cultivation. At that time, a prodigious disciple would be called in as a substitute warden instead.

“Huan’er, let’s apply for the positions of wardens in the Thousand Chains Prison.”

After learning about the ins and outs of the matter from Hong Fei, Duan Ling Tian did not waste time and brought Huan’er with him to volunteer at the Thousand Chains Prison as wardens.

…

When they arrived at the Thousand Chains Pavilion that was located on another floating island, Duan Ling Tian discovered it was even more isolated than the Sword Trial Pavilion. There were no human activities at all during their journey here.

Swoosh!

A gust of wind blew past, stirring up and scattering the fallen leaves at the entrance of the pavilion.

“This is… the Thousand Chains Pavilion?”

The Thousand Chains Pavilion was the headquarters of the Thousand Chain Prison. This was where one signed up to become wardens. Since there were only 100 prodigious disciples in the Heavenly Palace and only prodigious disciples could apply to be wardens, the registration process was incredibly simple.

‘It looks abandoned,’ Duan Ling Tian mused inwardly as they entered the pavilion. It was dusty and cobwebs hung everywhere. It seemed like nobody had visited this place in a long time.

“Is there anyone here?” Duan Ling Tian called out.

Creak!

As soon as Duan Ling Tian’s voice fell, the sound of a door creaking rang from the depths of the pavilion.

An ancient and emotionless voice rang in the air. “Are you here to apply to become a warden?”

“Yes,” Duan Ling Tian responded.

“The prodigious disciple identity token.”

Duan Ling Tian and Huan’er quickly brought their identity tokens out.

A gust of wind surged out and brought their identity tokens away. It was rather strange.

“You’re Duan Ling Tian? The latest prodigious disciple to join Xu Lang? You’re a talent indeed.”

Soon after, Duan Ling Tian and Huan’er identity tokens were returned to them. Additionally, they received two jet-black tokens that glowed with faint red light. Their names and the words ‘Thousand Chains Prison’ were engraved at the back of the tokens.

“Has that girl, Xu Ya Si, returned?”

The old man’s voice rang in the air again when Duan Ling Tian and Huan’er collected their tokens.

“Xu Ya Si?” Duan Ling Tian asked, puzzled.

“You don’t even know the name of your Eldest Senior Sister? Aren’t you here to be a warden because your Eldest Senior Sister was the head warden of the Thousand Chains Prison and to comprehend the law of death on the Life-or-Death Platform?”

Although the old man did not appear in front of Duan Ling Tian and Huan’er, it felt as though he could see them. However, Duan Ling Tian did not sense any Divine Consciousness at all. Who was this old man?

Based on the old man’s words, it was clear that the Life-or-Death Platform was where one could comprehend the law of death in the Thousand Chains Prison.

After a moment, Duan Ling Tian asked respectfully, “Senior, may I know who you are?”

“Me?” The old man remained silent for a moment before he replied, “I’m supposed to be a dead man…”

Immediately after that, the sound of a door banging shut rang in the air.

Duan Ling Tian tried calling out a few times, but the old man no longer responded to him. Following that, he tried to detect the old man through his Divine Consciousness only to discover the pavilion was impenetrable.

“Senior, I’ll be taking my leave.” Since the old man was not responding to him. Duan Ling Tian did not stay any longer at the pavilion. Moreover, he also achieved his purpose of coming here after receiving the warden token. He said, “Huan’er, let’s go to the Thousand Chains Prison.”

In order to become a warden of the Thousand Chains Prison, one must first obtain a warden token from the Thousand Chains Pavilion before registering with the Thousand Chains Prison. After that, when there was a vacancy, they would be called up to carry out duties.

…

The Thousand Chains Prison was located a distance away behind the Prodigy Arena.

A huge floating island could be seen In the air above a towering mountain. The island seemed to be wrapped with numerous thick chains. The mountain was carved with many intricate and incomprehensible patterns and words.

“The Thousand Chains Prison!”

The words ‘Thousand Chains Prison’ hung in front of the mountain, covering half the mountain. Similar to the island, numerous chains crawled all over the mountain. In the center of the mountain, there was an entrance that seemed to lead to a cave. The entrance was so exquisitely decorated that it seemed as though it was the entrance to a luxurious palace instead.

“This must be the entrance to the Thousand Chains Prison,” Duan Ling Tian said to Huan’er.

A hint of excitement could be seen in Huan’er’s eyes as she gazed at the Thousand Chains Prison. Her body began to tremble slightly as she struggled to control her emotions.

Duan Ling Tian said with a smile, “Huan’er, we’ll enter after you’ve calmed down a bit.”

Huan’er nodded slightly. After a dozen breaths, she finally managed to calm down.

“Let’s go.”

At the entrance, Duan Ling Tian and Huan’er saw four old men guarding the entrance.

They were in groups of two standing at each side of the entrance.

Before the duo could speak, one of the old men said menacingly, “Unauthorized personnel isn’t allowed to enter the Thousand Chains Prison.”

The old man looked like a white lion with his full white beard, messy long white hair, and white brows.

“Elder, we’re prodigious disciples who just applied to become wardens of the Thousand Chains Prison.” Duan Ling Tian brought out their warden tokens and handed them to the old man.

After receiving the tokens, the old man turned the tokens around to have a look. His eyes seemed to widen slightly when he saw Duan Ling Tian’s name.

“You’re Duan Ling Tian? The one who killed Han Yun Jin, the eldest disciple of the Profound Heaven Celestial Emperor at the Prodigy Arena today?” The old man looked at Duan Ling Tian in shock. Although he was not present at the Prodigy Arena, news of Duan Ling Tian’s battle had spread all over the Heavenly Pool Palace.
