“Congratulations, Master Duan. You’ve finally mastered the Duke Grade Celestial Method, the Immobilization King Method.” Tie Tai He, the Supreme Elder of the Tai Yi Celestial Sect, congratulated Duan Ling Tian as he looked at him with a wide grin.

“Elder Tie, you’re able to tell that I’ve mastered it?” Duan Ling Tian looked rather surprised.

“No, I can’t… But, the Arhat can,” Tie Tai He replied.

Duan Ling Tian instinctively looked at Ji Fan, the Arhat of the Blissful Sect. His gaze that was similar to a hunter looking at its prey caused Ji Fan to shudder. Then, he shifted his gaze to Huan’er and extended his Divine Consciousness to check on her condition. The level of one’s Divine Consciousness was similar to one’s soul. Therefore, with the Divine Consciousness of a Ten Directions Celestial King, it was easy for him to see that Huan’er had fully recovered from her injuries and was currently in the midst of comprehending her Celestial Method and Divine Ability.

…

Almost a month passed by quickly. There were only a few days left before they arrived at the Blissful Sect’s estate.

At this moment, Duan Ling Tian stopped cultivating and looked at Tie Tai He before he said, “Elder Tie, once you send us to the Blissful Sect’s estate, your job here is done.” Before Tie Tai He could reply, he added again, “I don’t want the Tai Yi Celestial Sect to be involved in this matter. You understand what I mean, don’t you?” He looked at Tie Tai He meaningfully as he spoke.

“Master Duan, I understand you don’t wish to trouble the Tai Yi Celestial Sect because of your public identity as our Chief Celestial Alchemist… Rest assured, Master Duan, the Blissful Sect won’t dare to harm us even if you act with the identity of the Chief Celestial Alchemist of the Tai Yi Celestial Sect and cause a commotion in the Blissful Sect,” Tie Tai He said confidently.

“Cause a commotion in the Blissful Sect?” Duan Ling Tian’s eyes flashed coldly when he heard Tie Tai He’s words. He shook his head and said with a cold smirk, “I’m going to annihilate the Blissful Sect! If things go according to plan, after I’m done, the Blissful Sect will no longer exist in the borderlands of the Southern Heaven Territory!”

Tie Tai He inhaled sharply. A hint of panic could be seen in his eyes as he looked at Duan Ling Tian. When Duan Ling Tian asked to be brought to the Blissful Sect’s estate, he thought Duan Ling Tian was only going to stir up a commotion. He did not expect that Duan Ling Tian intended to annihilate the Blissful Sect!

Ji Fan shared the same thought as Tie Tai He. Panic set in and his face turned ashen when he learned of Duan Ling Tian’s intention. He knew he would not be able to escape if that was Duan Ling Tian’s intention. Various thoughts flitted through his mind as his expression changed drastically. Finally, he made up his mind with much determination and said through gritted teeth, “Master Duan, I’ve decided to sever all ties with the Blissful Sect. I’ll officially announce my decision to the people of the Blissful Sect immediately once we arrive!”

“You’re smart, Arhat.” Duan Ling Tian was slightly taken aback by Ji Fan’s sudden decision. “If you’re determined and keep your words, I’ll be willing to forget the enmity between us!” He had never had a good impression of Ji Fan. However, Ji Fan’s determination to live and decisiveness to give up his position as the future Sect Leader of the Blissful Sect made his regard for Ji Fan slightly rise. It was not easy to give up on power and status after all.

“Thank you, Master Duan!” Ji Fan replied before heaving a sigh of relief. Then, he looked at Duan Ling Tian and tentatively asked, “Master Duan, did you plan to kill me after we arrived at the Blissful Sect?”

“It did cross my mind,” Duan Ling Tian bluntly said.

Duan Ling Tian’s words sent chills running up Ji Fan’s spine. It further deepened his resolve to cut ties with the Blissful Sect. As he looked in the direction where the Blissful Sect’s estate was located, he thought to himself, ‘Master, I’m sorry… I have to betray the sect for the sake of my puny life.’ His master was none other than Liu Xuan Kong, the Sect Leader of the Blissful Sect. ‘Master, please don’t blame me… Whoever was sent by the sect to investigate Duan Ling Tian should be blamed instead. The Old Ancestor wouldn’t have died, and the sect wouldn’t have fallen into this situation if they didn’t say that Duan Ling Tian’s a mere transcender, and we’re free to do whatever we want to him.’ Then, he became immersed in his thoughts about the future and finding a new path to walk on after leaving the Blissful Sect.

At this moment, a thought appeared unbidden in Duan Ling Tian’s mind. He looked at Ji Fan and called out, “Arhat.”

“Master Duan, from now on, you can just call me Ji Fan… Since I’ve decided to sever ties with the Blissful Sect, I’m no longer the Arhat of the Blissful Sect,” Ji Fan said with a bitter smile. Then, he asked, “Is something the matter, Master Duan?”

“You must possess a Duke Grade Floating Image Pearl, right?” Duan Ling Tian asked.

“Yes,” Ji Fan replied honestly as he nodded.

“When we arrive at the Blissful Sect, remember to use your Floating Image Pearl to record the scene when your Ten Directions Celestial Duke attacks. I’ll need it later.”

“Yes, Master Duan,” Ji Fan courteously replied, “Master Duan, the Ten Directions Celestial Duke is my senior granduncle. He’s my grandmaster’s paternal cousin… I know a thing or two about him, including his expertise… Should I tell you more about him?” He was, naturally, doing this to curry favor with Duan Ling Tian. Alas, he was unsuccessful in his attempt.

Duan Ling Tian shook his head and confidently replied with a hint of contempt, “I have no need for such information. A mere Ten Directions Celestial Duke is nothing!”

After witnessing Duan Ling Tian’s display of strength when they were at the Tai Yi Celestial Sect, Ji Fan and Tie Tai He thought Duan Ling Tian’s arrogance was justified.

“I beg your pardon for interjecting… Indeed, Master Duan’s right. With your strength, a mere Ten Directions Celestial Duke’s not a concern at all.” Ji Fan immediately agreed with Duan Ling Tian.

…

A few days later.

“Master Duan, the Blissful Sect estate is not far away now!” Ji Fan said to Duan Ling Tian as he pointed toward the lofty mountains shrouded in mist.

Duan Ling Tian nodded in response before he looked at Huan’er who was in the midst of comprehending her Celestial Method and Divine Ability. It seemed like she would not wake up for quite some while.

“Elder Tie, please stay here and take care of Huan’er for me. I’ll be right back after I deal with the Blissful Sect. My Divine Consciousness will always be able to sense you so rest assured, you’re safe here,” Duan Ling Tian said to Tie Tai He.

“Yes, Master Duan,” Tie Tai He said. In fact, he really wanted to witness Duan Ling Tian annihilating the Blissful Sect. Alas, he could only comply with Duan Ling Tian’s request. Previously, he had treated Duan Ling Tian as an equal and a friend. However, things had subtly changed since he witnessed Duan Ling Tian’s strength that was comparable to a Celestial King. At this moment, he had regarded Duan Ling Tian as being superior to him, and he genuinely respected Duan Ling Tian.

“Show me the way, Ji Fan.”

Under Tie Tai He’s watchful eyes, Duan Ling Tian and Ji Fan flew in the air toward the misty mountains. Although there were many Formations protecting the lofty mountains, they did not pose any difficulty to Ji Fan at all. He easily bypassed them. Soon enough, they arrived in the Blissful Sect’s estate.

“Who goes there?!” A few disciples from the Blissful Sect descended from the sky and approached them. When they saw Ji Fan, they hastily bowed down in unison and greeted him. “Greetings, Arhat!”

Ji Fan was the Arhat of the Blissful Sect. The successor of the Sect Leader of the Blissful Sect. It was only natural that most people respected him since his status was only below a few people in the sect.

Boom!

Ji Fan did not reply and raised his hand to mobilize his Celestial Origin Energy that surged into the sky like a hurricane. Shadows in the shape of a palm rained down and struck the disciples, killing them instantly.

Meanwhile, a new group of disciples from the Blissful Sect who had just arrived and was about to greet Ji Fan witnessed this scene. They were frightened, shocked, and confused as they recalled the scene where Ji Fan killed their fellow disciples.

“Isn’t that the Arhat?”

“Why did the Arhat kill the sect’s disciples? They were bowing and greeting him, weren’t they?”

Swoosh!

Under the disciples’ watchful eyes, Ji Fan flew directly above the Blissful Sect estate and announced in a loud voice, “I, Ji Fan, hereby announce that from today onward, I’m severing all ties with the Blissful Sect. I’m no longer the Arhat nor a disciple of the Blissful Sect!” His voice that had been injected with his Celestial Origin Energy resonated throughout the Blissful Sect’s estate.
