Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2840: Astiel Battle 3

Above Eclipse Island, the battle had already raged for several relentless minutes, yet the sky still belonged to one man.

Emery moved like a falling star that refused to die.

By this point, Emery had fully released his Twilight Transformation.

His figure hovered between man and beast, muscles swollen with volatile Khaos energy. Jagged lines of twilight light crawled across his body, and his eyes burned with a feral radiance.

More than thirty grand magus circled him in layered formations, domains overlapping, spells crashing toward his position from every direction. Elemental storms, divine radiance, sword auras, and sacred bindings tore through the air in a constant barrage meant to overwhelm through sheer volume.

Instead, he only grew fiercer.

His Icarus wings of burning Khaos flared behind him, each beat bending space and giving him bursts of impossible acceleration. Combined with his fully manifested battlefield domain, he slipped through kill zones by margins no wider than a hair, reappearing where defenses were thinnest and panic highest.

And every time he appeared—

Someone died.

Khaos-infused sword arcs carved through layered shields like rotten cloth. A fire-void slash bisected a defensive caster before his formation could stabilize. A backhanded strike shattered a spirit weapon and its wielder together, fragments scattering like broken glass across the sky.

One fell.

Then another.

Screams echoed above the island, mingling with the roar of flames and the crack of collapsing domains. Below, thousands of spectators watched in horror or awe as burning bodies and broken soul fragments falling down from thy sky.

Yet instead of retreating, more figures surged into the air.

”Kill that monster!!”

The shout was filled with fear as much as fury.

For a brief moment, Emery hovered amidst the chaos, chest rising once, slowly, as if drawing breath not just into his lungs, but into his very soul.

The power of both Elysian tree and Khaos churned through his meridians like a tidal wave straining against a dam.

Then he unleashed them in full.

”Dao Sword of Ice and Fire — First Form: Frostfire Rend!”

Emery’s voice thundered as he drew upon two opposing extremes at once. Killgragah’s abyssal black flames spiraled around his blade while Daurgotoh’s absolute frost coiled in the opposite direction. When he swung, the two forces twisted together into a violent helix that tore forward like a drilling comet.

The formation of Astiel-aligned grand magus shattered.

Those with fast escape techniques vanished in streaks of light. Those without were caught between annihilating heat and soul-freezing cold.

Three died instantly, their bodies reduced to half-burned, half-frozen wreckage that disintegrated midair.

A few more were sealed inside thick prisms of black ice, screams muffled as frost crawled through their meridians.

”You bastard! You killed my brother!”

A grand magus charged like a meteor, domain condensed into a single suicidal strike.

Emery did not even turn fully.

Blade flashed.

The attacker split cleanly down the center, momentum carrying both halves past Emery before they erupted into ash.

”Blame the Astiels!” Emery roared back, voice filled with raw, tearing fury as he pointed his blade straight toward Denard, who remained behind layers of elite protection. ”He started this!”

By now, including the two royal guardians, Caelthar, and the Winter Lord, Emery had taken fifteen grand magus lives. Several more had escaped only in soul form, their physical bodies destroyed.

But the battlefield did not thin.

It thickened.

More allies of Astiel, enraged sect members, more self-righteous ”avengers” surged forward, drawn by pride or politics.

Three grand magus from the Heaven’s Will Sword Sect joined the fray, golden sword intent slicing across the sky in coordinated arcs meant to pin his movement.

Emery’s vision blurred for a fraction of a second.

He was nearing his limit.

The forced tribulation, the breakthrough, the earlier battle inside the pagoda, and now this sustained siege — even with Khaos sharing the burden, his soul and body were both fraying. Cracks of pain laced through his consciousness like spreading fractures in glass.

He swallowed several high-grade pills in one motion, crushing them between his teeth as medicinal power surged through him, barely stabilizing the chaos within.

It wasn’t enough.

So he made it enough.

Below, the grand magus trapped in black ice began to scream louder as twilight vines, thin as threads and glowing with devouring runes, pierced the frozen prisons and burrowed into their souls.

”Evil being!” someone from the papal delegation shouted in disgust.

Several seraphs lifted radiant spears, holy light gathering as judgment replaced hesitation.

Emery didn’t even look at them.

He didn’t have the time.

His gaze locked on Denard again, still protected, still alive.

”Fine,” Emery muttered darkly. ”Then stay right there.”

His aura surged.

All three Khaos Gates roared open inside him.

”Killgragah. Daurgotoh. Chutulu.”

Three summons answered.

Black infernal flame erupted into the shape of a colossal dragon wreathed in abyssal fire. Beside it coiled a skeletal ice dragon, frost mist trailing from its ribs. From twisting shadows and tidal void emerged the third — a warped, abyss-born draconic horror of writhing tendrils and crushing gravity.

Gasps rippled through the battlefield.

”He can summon dragons?!” ”How many tricks does he have?!”

The three Khaos dragons didn’t charge to kill.

They spread wide, intercepting incoming attacks, claws and breath weapons turning the sky into a zone of absolute denial. Their purpose was simple.

Hold them.

Buy him time.

Emery rose higher, above the chaotic clash, blood dripping from his arm, wings flickering.

Then he pulled out a painting scroll artifact — the Seven Myriad Mountain Painting.

He unfurled it.

Dark, ancient energy poured out as a phantom mountain took shape in the sky, its pressure slamming down across the entire island. Air warped. Domains buckled.

With his newly advanced realm, Emery forced more.

A second mountain formed.

Then a third.

Three colossal spectral peaks overlapped, their combined weight pressing downward toward the floating island like the hand of a god.

”He’s insane!” ”He’ll destroy us all!”

Panic finally broke through all.

Some tried to flee.

Others—especially the Astiel loyalists—were driven forward by the fury of their ruler and crown prince.

Twenty more grand magus surged upward, determined to stop the descending catastrophe no matter the cost.

Killgragah unleashed a massive torrent of abyssal flame, its breath sweeping across the sky in a blazing arc that forced lesser grand magus to retreat. Those powerful enough to break through the inferno were immediately intercepted by Chutuutlu, whose writhing tentacles lashed outward in coordination with the spreading Twilight vines, ensnaring limbs, crushing domains, and dragging struggling figures out of formation.

Meanwhile, the skeletal bone dragon Daurgotoh was dispatched toward the most dangerous group—the Heaven’s Will sword master and three elite swordsmen. Blades of golden sword intent clashed against deathly frost and necrotic mist as the dragon met them head-on.

The Storm Lord attempted to break through to support them, but the super golem intercepted him once more, its massive frame locking him in a brutal exchange that shook the air with every collision.

And at the center of it all, amidst the collapsing sky—

Bloodied.

Burning.

Smiling like a madman standing at the edge of death—

Emery looked down at the battlefield he had turned into ruin.

”Time’s up...”

Then,

He let the mountains fall.
