Reborn As a Snake, I Can Absorb Fear

Chapter 114 KrakenOne second before the nuclear bomb detonated, Jiang Feng’s figure vanished from the island.

On the island’s reefs, a flock of birds was preening their feathers.

At first, they paid no mind to the fireball descending from the sky, but the moment it hit the ground, it was as if the world had suddenly been pressed on pause.

The birds were compressed into a two-dimensional painting, and after 0.01 seconds, the dimension collapsed.

The island was engulfed in an all-consuming white light; trees instantly turned into charred shadows, and mountain rocks shattered into plasma.

Amidst a deafening roar that shook the heavens, the entire island fell apart.

A mushroom cloud shot into the sky; magma boiled, and seawater rushed inward.

When the smoke and dust cleared, the place where the island had once been was now a sea surface floating with gray embers.

The entire island was gone!

A hundred kilometers away, Jiang Feng, having used the Star Escape Technique twice in succession, stared intently in the direction of the island.

A blazing white light appeared from over there; even from a hundred kilometers away, Jiang Feng could feel the terrifying power capable of destroying everything.

He had almost, just almost, been blown up by the nuclear bomb.

If he had been one second later, he would absolutely have been reduced to nothing.

Even using the Star Shield would have been useless; for a nuclear bomb with a yield of over a million tons of TNT, not to mention the heat and radiation, the sheer impact force alone was far more than a hundred million tons.

Jiang Feng might be able to withstand an impact force of several tens of thousands of tons now, but anything over a hundred thousand tons would mean certain death.

Damn it, who exactly was it?

Jiang Feng felt endless rage in his heart; this nuclear bomb was clearly aimed at him.

His home was gone; the home he had worked so hard to build had been wiped out directly.

It made him a homeless snake once again.

Damn humans, they really wouldn’t let a snake live in peace.

He had already stayed far away from human activity areas; ever since meeting Su Ling again, Jiang Feng had no intention of continuing to plague humanity.

That was why he had taken Su Ling to hide in the ocean; it wasn’t that he was truly afraid of Sakura Country, but that he didn’t want to slaughter humans, especially in front of his Owner.

But his Owner was no longer here, and yet humanity had no intention of letting him go.

Jiang Feng had already completely abandoned the last shred of humanity in his heart; he was going to make the humans who persecuted him pay the price.

With the memories of his past life, Jiang Feng knew that this nuclear bomb was most likely launched by the USA; after all, Sakura Country had sought help from the Dragon Country and the USA. The Dragon Country had sent Su Ling, so the probability of them using a nuclear bomb on him was low, but the possibility of the Dragon Country or other nations couldn’t be ruled out.

Originally, he had stayed in the ocean to kill giant beasts; partly to avenge his Owner, and partly because he actually wanted to eliminate some threats for humanity.

Although he wouldn’t admit it out loud, his soul’s past life was indeed human; if forced to choose between giant beasts and humans, he would definitely favor the human side.

But now that humans couldn’t tolerate him and wanted to kill him, what reason did he have to stand on the human side?

Unless his Owner were resurrected, but was that even possible?

”USA, since you provoked me first, don’t blame this snake for being ruthless. Prepare to suffer the wrath of this snake!”

Jiang Feng had already transferred all his anger onto the USA, even though the USA might have been commissioned by Sakura Country.

But Jiang Feng didn’t care about that; what right did the USA have to interfere in the feud between him and Sakura Country?

If not for the USA, he could have continued living carefree in Sakura Country.

Since the USA didn’t take this snake seriously and treated him as a beast to be slaughtered at will, then it was only reasonable for this snake to seek revenge against you.

”Whoever dares to oppose me in destroying the USA, I will destroy them.”

Jiang Feng’s voice spread across this sea area; he was making a vow to the ocean.

”Oh! Who are you going to destroy? A tiny little snake, yet so arrogant.”

Just then, a scornful voice rang out suddenly, as if it were right nearby.

Jiang Feng was startled and looked in the direction of the voice.

He saw a figure rapidly approaching him on the surface of the distant sea.

Jiang Feng did not run away immediately; he wanted to see who it was.

Soon, Jiang Feng showed a look of surprise; the newcomers were two octopuses.

One was over five hundred meters in size, and the other was around two hundred meters, but it had two tentacles broken off.

It was exactly the octopus Jiang Feng had encountered a few days ago.

Was it bringing its octopus dad to get revenge?

”Little snake brat, were you the one who bullied my little brother?” the large octopus spoke, not taking Jiang Feng seriously at all.

The large octopus’s arrogant posture made Jiang Feng somewhat angry. ”Who are you?”

”Listen well, your grandfather here is the Kraken of the North Sea.”

The Kraken of the North Sea?

Wasn’t that a sea monster from over in Europe? How did it get here?

Jiang Feng was confused; he had heard a little about the Kraken in his past life.

”How did you get here? Is this little octopus your son?”

”Little snake brat, why do you talk so much? And, don’t you know that the Lord of the Ocean is summoning us to go there?”

Summoned by the Lord of the Ocean?

He didn’t know!

And what on earth was the Lord of the Ocean?

Jiang Feng, feeling a bit bewildered, didn’t plan to say it out loud; if he did, he feared he would be treated as an anomaly. This world seemed to have many secrets he didn’t know about.

”Little snake brat, I asked you a question! You aren’t a land snake, are you?” As he spoke, Kraken suddenly appeared excited, and the way he looked at Jiang Feng changed.

Although he had been aggressive toward Jiang Feng before, there was actually not much killing intent, because the Lord of the Ocean had already issued an order forbidding sea beasts from killing each other.

But if Jiang Feng were a land snake, he would kill him without hesitation—no, devour him.

Jiang Feng was startled; he saw the change in the large octopus’s eyes.

Although he wasn’t afraid of this large octopus, he might not necessarily be able to defeat it; the difference in size was too great.

Even just after molting, he was only 300 meters long.

The large octopus’s torso alone was five hundred meters, and its eight tentacles were each several times larger than Jiang Feng’s size; furthermore, it was an octopus with intelligence comparable to a human and the ability to speak.

His chance of winning was less than twenty percent.

Of course, it was impossible for the large octopus to kill him either; he had the Star Escape Technique and had long been in an invincible position.

However, Jiang Feng still wanted to learn more information, so he had to say: ”I am not a land snake. Have you ever seen a land snake run into the ocean?”

Jiang Feng actually didn’t know what kind of snake he was either, but he was certainly not a sea snake.

Kraken pondered for a moment, a trace of disappointment flashing in his eyes, but he didn’t intend to let Jiang Feng go just like that; the Lord of the Ocean only forbade sea beasts from killing each other, not from doing other things.

Kraken continued to threaten: ”Even if you aren’t a land snake, but little snake brat, how do you plan to handle the matter of you bullying my little brother?”

”What do you want to do?” Jiang Feng retorted.

”Cut off your own tail!” Kraken revealed a fierce expression.

”Impossible. If you have the ability, come and kill me, you idiot.”

How could Jiang Feng agree to such an unreasonable demand? After provoking Kraken, he quickly fled amidst Kraken’s look of disbelief.
