System Possession, One Sword Shocks the Gods

12: Melee EdgeThe hour-long break passed in the blink of an eye.

On the Central Square, the thirty-two qualified young Cultivators were led to a wider, circular arena made of hard Blue Granite. Simple protective runes were engraved on the edges of the arena, emitting a faint glow.

Below the stage, the crowd was larger than before, and the atmosphere was even more heated and tense. Melees were often more full of variables and surprises than one-on-one matches, and they could better test a person’s comprehensive strength.

Ye Chen stood at the edge of the arena, his gaze calmly sweeping over his opponents on the stage. He could feel at least five gazes, either overt or covert, locked onto him. There were those few from the Ye family, as well as several unfamiliar faces with strong auras and flickering eyes.

Outer Court Steward of Tianfeng Academy sat on a high seat outside the arena, his voice spreading throughout the field: ”The rules are simple. Falling off the arena, voluntarily surrendering, or losing combat effectiveness means elimination. The final ten people remaining on the stage will be selected for Tianfeng Academy. The assessment begins!”

As soon as the word ”begins” was uttered, the atmosphere on the arena instantly tightened!

There was no immediate melee as expected; most people were moving warily, looking for targets or allies. After a brief stalemate, the battle erupted with a bang!

”Clear out the weak ones first!” someone shouted, and several battle groups immediately formed. The sounds of spiritual power collisions, shouts, and screams were incessant.

Ye Chen did not take the initiative to attack. His figure moved like willow catkins in the wind, easily avoiding several tentative attacks. His goal was to survive until the end, not to fight for the sake of being aggressive.

However, the tree wants to be still but the wind won’t stop.

”Ye Chen! Stop hiding!” A sharp shout came, and three Ye family disciples, led by Ye Feng, surrounded him in a triangular formation with sinister smiles on their faces. They had clearly reached a consensus to join forces and eliminate this ”accident” first.

”A waste with crippled martial veins deserves to trigger the Mystic Light? You must have used some underhanded means!” Ye Feng’s Eighth Level of Body Tempering Realm aura exploded, and he threw a punch straight at Ye Chen’s face, the wind from the punch whistling. The other two also attacked from the flanks at the same time, blocking Ye Chen’s path of retreat.

Below the stage, a cold smile appeared at the corner of Ye Xiong’s mouth.

Facing the three-man siege, Ye Chen’s eyes remained calm. He didn’t even reach for the qingfeng sword on his back.

Just as Ye Feng’s fist was about to hit his body, Ye Chen moved!

His footsteps shifted mysteriously, and his figure slid past Ye Feng’s punch like a ghost. At the same time, his left hand reached out like lightning, precisely grabbing Ye Feng’s wrist and pulling it along!

”What?!” Ye Feng only felt an irresistible force coming, and his whole body lunged forward uncontrollably, right into the Ye family disciple attacking from the left.

”Bang!” The two collided with cries of surprise, looking extremely embarrassed.

Meanwhile, Ye Chen’s right hand, with fingers held like a sword, had already pointed at the ribs of the person attacking from the right. The finger wind was sharp, striking first despite being launched later!

Pfft!

That person only felt a numbness in his ribs followed by sharp pain. His spiritual power instantly dissipated, and with a muffled groan, he slumped to the ground, losing his combat effectiveness.

In a single encounter, the three-man encirclement collapsed instantly, and one person was down!

A burst of exclamations rang out from below the stage!

Ye Feng was both shocked and angry. He stabilized his figure and lunged forward again with the other person, his Moves becoming even more ruthless.

Ye Chen’s eyes turned slightly cold. He no longer held back. As his figure swayed, he closed in on the other Ye family disciple, still using a simple finger strike aimed at the Dantian Qi Sea.

The person hurriedly tried to block, but felt the finger wind was a feint; the real attack had already reached the wrist holding his weapon.

Crack!

The crisp sound of a broken wrist bone rang out. The man screamed, his weapon dropped, and Ye Chen kicked him off the arena.

In the blink of an eye, only Ye Feng was left!

Ye Feng’s face turned pale, and fear finally appeared in his eyes. Only then did he realize that Ye Chen’s strength was far beyond his reach.

”I...” He was about to surrender.

But Ye Chen didn’t give him the chance. He never showed mercy to those who repeatedly provoked him with malicious intent.

His figure flashed, appearing in front of Ye Feng as if teleporting. Under the other’s terrified gaze, he struck a palm onto his chest.

”Bang!”

Ye Feng was like a kite with a broken string. Blood sprayed from his mouth as he flew backward, crashing heavily outside the arena and fainting.

Clean and efficient! In an instant, he had dealt with three Ye family disciples, including Ye Feng, who was at the Eighth Level of Body Tempering Realm!

This scene completely intimidated the others still fighting on the stage. Many who originally had designs on Ye Chen turned their gazes away, not daring to provoke this god of slaughter again.

An empty area was instantly cleared around Ye Chen.

He still stood there calmly, as if he had just casually swatted away a few flies.

The melee continued, and people were constantly being knocked off the arena. Ye Chen was happy to be at leisure; occasionally, someone blind enough to approach was casually dealt with by him.

Soon, the number of people on the stage dropped to about fifteen. Those remaining were basically experts at the Eighth or even Ninth Level of Body Tempering Realm, warily facing off against each other, making the atmosphere even more heavy.

Just then, a sudden change occurred!

Three young men in ordinary gray tight-fitting clothes, who had been lingering on the edge of the battle, glanced at each other. A hint of ruthlessness flashed in their eyes, and they suddenly burst out together, targeting Ye Chen!

The auras of these three were all at the Ninth Level of Body Tempering Realm! Moreover, they coordinated tacitly in their movements, and their spiritual power attributes were faintly connected; they had clearly cultivated a Combined Attack Technique!

”Kid, you only have yourself to blame for offending someone you shouldn’t have!” the leader shouted. The three of them struck with fists, palms, and legs simultaneously. Their spiritual power intertwined into a large net, blocking all of Ye Chen’s retreat paths, with power comparable to a Kaiyuan Realm strike!

Below the stage, a smile of a successful plot appeared on Ye Xiong’s face. The people arranged by Instructor Lin had finally made their Move!

Outer Court Steward of Tianfeng Academy frowned slightly but did not stop them. During the assessment, as long as one did not intentionally cause death or disability, all sorts of means were within the permitted range.

Facing this sudden siege, which was far beyond the previous ones, Ye Chen’s gaze finally became serious.

He finally moved!

Clang!

A clear and melodious sword whistle echoed through the arena! The qingfeng sword suddenly unsheathed, its dark green blade drawing a cold arc in the sunlight!

He didn’t use any fancy sword Moves, just the simplest and fastest straight thrust! The target was exactly the weakest point where the spiritual power of the three’s Combined Attack Technique intertwined!

This sword strike was fast! Accurate! Ruthless! It even contained the swiftness of the Wind Shadow Sword Art and the sharpness of the Wind Chasing Sword Art!

Striking first despite being launched later!

Chirr!

A sound like tearing cloth rang out. The large net of spiritual power set up by the three was pierced at a single point and instantly torn apart by this sword strike!

The sword light didn’t stop, like a poisonous snake flicking its tongue, it instantly pointed at the leader’s throat!

That person was horrified, not expecting their Combined Attack Technique to be broken so easily. He hurriedly retreated to block.

Ding!

The tip of the sword hit his blocking arm, and a sharp, domineering force instantly penetrated!

”Ah!” The man screamed, his arm instantly hanging limp, his bones completely shattered!

Ye Chen’s figure was like the wind. With a flick of his wrist, the qingfeng sword drew two strange arcs, sweeping toward the wrists of the other two respectively.

Pfft! Pfft!

Two soft sounds followed, and the other two also screamed, clutching their wrists as they retreated. Blood seeped through their fingers, and their weapons fell to the ground.

In an instant, three experts at the Ninth Level of Body Tempering Realm, joining forces in a combined attack, were defeated!

The entire field was dead silent!

Everyone was awestruck by this stunning and domineering sword strike!

Ye Chen stood with his sword, the qingfeng sword pointing diagonally at the ground, a drop of blood slowly sliding off the tip. He looked coldly at the three horrified young men in gray.

”Did Lin Batian send you?” His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried a bone-chilling coldness.

The faces of the three changed drastically. Not daring to answer, they endured the pain and jumped off the arena in a sorry state, disappearing into the crowd without looking back.

Ye Chen did not pursue them and sheathed his sword. He knew that the real trouble was still to come.

After this battle, no one on the stage dared to approach him. The competition for the remaining spots no longer had anything to do with him.

Finally, when only ten people remained on the stage, Outer Court Steward of Tianfeng Academy announced the end of the assessment.

Ye Chen was undoubtedly among them.

However, just as Outer Court Steward of Tianfeng Academy was about to announce the results, a cold and domineering voice, like a thunderclap, came from outside the square:

”Wait!”

The crowd parted like a tide, and a burly, fierce-looking middle-aged man dressed in the attire of the City Lord’s Mansion walked in with large strides. The powerful Spiritual Pressure he emitted made many people present feel their breathing hitch!

Kaiyuan Realm Sixth Level!

Lin Batian had arrived in person!

His gaze was like a knife, firmly locked onto Ye Chen on the arena, his killing intent undisguised:

”This boy is cruel and ruthless, maliciously wounding many during the assessment, and is even suspected of using evil means! In the name of the Guard Instructor of the City Lord’s Mansion, I demand his qualification be revoked and that he be brought back to the mansion for investigation!”

The atmosphere instantly dropped to the freezing point!
