My Youth Began With Him

“No. To be honest, I had almost forgotten about him.”

Huo Mian wasn’t cold-hearted, Huo Zhenghai just treated her mother and her too poorly. The only bit of affection he showed was laced with manipulation. After Huo Mian found out that she wasn’t biologically related to the Huo Family, her feelings towards Huo Zhenghai diminished even further.

“I know. Dad didn’t treat you well, so you hated him, no?” Huo Yanyan raised her head and looked at Huo Mian.

“I don’t know if I hated him, but I have no feelings towards him anymore. I didn’t agree with what he did before he died, and his death didn’t affect me at all. I don’t know where to start…”

Huo Zhenghai’s life was pathetic. He had so many children but in the end, Huo Yanyan was his only biological offspring.

His favorite wife, Shen Jiani, cheated on him for years, and his favorite son, Huo Siyi, was a bastard Shen Jiani had with another man…

His respectful, adopted son turned out to be an ambitious wolf.

Huo Zhenghai’s end was tragic.

“I miss Dad a lot, not only because of the luxurious lifestyle he once gave me, but because he really loved me… I didn’t even get to see him one last time. I hate Huo Siqian, I want revenge.”

“Yanyan, do you hate me then?”

“No, I know that Huo Siqian did everything. You don’t even have a cent’s worth of the Huo Corporation’s shares. He even planted Song Yishi’s death on you…”

“Yanyan, what else do you know?” Huo Mian was a little taken aback.

“I don’t know anything, I have no proof. I only have speculations. Huo Siqian is messed up in the head, I don’t believe for one second that he loved Song Yishi as much as he seemed. Because… Because he always loved you.”

After speaking, Huo Yanyan glanced at Huo Mian… whose expression was as calm as could be.

“He doesn’t love me, love isn’t the same as twisted possessiveness. Love is too holy to describe him.”

Huo Yanyan nodded. “Yes, being loved by someone like him is a terrifying thing. He has committed heinous crimes to get you, and he’ll never repent.”

“Huo Siqian is my enemy too, I hate his guts,” Huo Mian sipped coffee and softly said.

“But Yanyan, no matter how much you want revenge, that’s not who you are, and you can’t resort to crime…”

“I didn’t think about that, I just want him to die,” Huo Yanyan hatefully said.

“So you don’t care about being called a mistress and took the risk of being beaten by Wei Ying to approach Young Master Shen? Were you hoping that he would discover your hatred and avenge you?” Huo Mian knew her intentions clearly.

“I don’t have another choice.”

“You do, you can live a peaceful life for your daughter and yourself. You don’t have to involve her in your affairs…”

“I have to take revenge on that heartless man. Anyways, Huo Siqian and my ex-husband are both my targets.”

“Do you really get a kick out of this?”

“Yes, I’ll be happy when I see them meet a tragic end.”

Seeing Huo Yanyan’s determination discouraged Huo Mian from talking her out of it.

She turned the topic and asked, “Yanyan, are you in contact with your mom and brother?”

Huo Yanyan was a little stunned before shaking her head.

“No, I haven’t heard from them in years. I don’t know how they are now… But with Mom still around, Siyi should be fine.”

Huo Mian analyzed Huo Yanyan’s expression and knew that she wasn’t lying. Her heart rested easy.

“Yanyan, do you want to come work at GK?” Huo Mian asked.

Upon hearing this, Huo Yanyan’s hands paused for a brief second.
