My Youth Began With Him

“Hello?”

“Su Yu…”

“Yeah, it’s me, what’s up?”

“Are you okay?” Wei Liao asked.

“I’m fine now.”

“How’s Huo Mian? When will she come back?”

“Tomorrow. My grandpa just told me today… if everything goes smoothly, I’m picking her up tomorrow.”

“That’s fantastic… but I have bad news over here.”

“What bad news?” Su Yu thought about all the possibilities. Could it be that something fishy was going on in prison?

Or maybe the media had discovered that they had cheated the system?

Could it be that Mayor Song and Huo Siqian began their meddling?

As his thoughts ran wild, Wei Liao’s voice broke the silence.

“Something happened to Qin Chu.”

“What happened?” Su Yu tried his best to remain calm.

“Rick arranged for him to fly to the States but his plane crashed… They’ve yet to find anything even after many hours of searching. Most people on the plane were blown into pieces… so… the likelihood of Qin Chu being alive is very slim…”

“How’s that possible?” Su Yu’s eyes widened at the news, his heart beating erratically.

“It’s real… we saw Rick today and he confirmed everything. We don’t want to believe it either, but it’s the truth. So I wanted to ask… what are you going to tell Huo Mian when she comes back?”

Su Yu fell silent at Wei Liao’s question…

Who was going to deliver such devastating news to Huo Mian?

“How could this happen…Huo Mian just got pregnant and now Qin Chu’s possibly gone?” Su Yu’s heart ached.

It was as if something heavy was weighing on his heart… it felt so heavy that he couldn’t breathe.

“What? Huo Mian’s pregnant?” Wei Liao caught the most important point.

“Yes.”

“Oh my god… what do we do? Who’s going to tell her? It’s too much on her…”

“We shouldn’t… tell her about it yet… I’ll pick her up tomorrow and we’ll talk about it when I come back.”

Su Yu hung up the phone, his heart was heavy and his face pale…

“What’s wrong, Yu?”

“Nothing… Mom, I’m going to pack up. I’m heading to Jing City tomorrow.”

With that, Su Yu got up and walked away. At that moment, Mrs. Su could feel the heaviness in her son’s footsteps.

-The Wei Mansion-

“What did you say?” Jiang Xiaowei moved close to Wei Liao and tugged on his arms.

“Yu said Huo Mian’s…pregnant.” Wei Liao was also stunned by the news.

“She’s pregnant?!” Jiang Xiaowei was shocked.

“Yes, if Su Yu says she’s pregnant then she’s pregnant. The army hospital would never make a mistake like that.”

“But… why didn’t the prison release the news before? Could it be… she was already pregnant but someone tried to cover it up?” Jiang Xiaowei had a quick mind; she immediately figured out what might have happened.

“It’s very possible… after all, the prison system’s very complex. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mayor Song had men in there.”

“Mian’s pregnancy’s such great news… but Qin Chu…”

Jiang Xiaowei couldn’t finish her sentence and the couple fell silent once again…

Huo Mian’s pregnancy came at such a sensitive time…

How was she going to face losing Qin Chu?

Jiang Xiaowei couldn’t imagine a Huo Mian without Qin Chu.

The next morning, Su Yu got a call from Jing City notifying him of Huo Mian’s temporary release being approved.

Su Yu took the 8:30 AM plane to pick Huo Mian up from Jing City.

Huo Mian packed up her things. She was neatly dressed and extremely excited to be heading home.

When she opened the door and saw Su Yu, she was surprised.

“Why are you here?”

“I’m taking you home.”

At the sight of Huo Mian, Su Yu’s heart filled with happiness.

He was completely satisfied just seeing her alive and well.

Su Yu didn’t dare to expect too much. The fact that Huo Mian was going to walk out of there unscathed… he really had nothing more to ask…

As Huo Mian stared blankly at him, Su Yu quickly walked over to her and picked up her bags.

“Why are you just standing there? Hurry up!” Su Yu turned and smiled at Huo Mian.

Huo Mian finally reacted and ran after Su Yu…

“Can you not be so hasty? You’re about to become a mom. Slow down! Geezus…” Su Yu was frightened by the sight of a running Huo Mian and immediately stopped to remind her.

“You already know?” Huo Mian smiled shyly.
