My Youth Began With Him

“I didn’t want to trouble you.”

“Why didn’t Xixi come with you?”

“She’s big with a baby and doesn’t want to travel…”

“Miss Nie, you look slimmer, and your face is more exquisite…”

Huo Mian seldom praised another woman’s looks. Hearing her words, Nie Lingxuan froze in surprise.

In the next second, Huo Mian did something even more unbelievable: she reached out and touched Nie Lingxuan’s face.

Then she said to the reporters with a chuckle, “You guys shouldn’t make up stories about her microsurgeries. Miss Nie has just lost some weight. If she had plastic surgeries, her face and nose would feel stiff on touch and would move like playdough… I’m a doctor, so my opinion is professional. I declare to you guys that my friend hasn’t done any plastic surgeries. Her beautiful looks are natural.”

That said, she withdrew her hand with residues of foundation on her palm. But it didn’t matter since she got the answer to her question.

“Miss Nie, don’t worry. I cleared your name.”

Huo Mian looked at Nie Lingxuan with a smile.

“Thank you, Dr. Huo.” Nie Lingxuan’s eyes had a trace of hostility.

She was displeased that Huo Mian touched her face but couldn’t show her anger since the latter told everyone that she did it as a favor.

“Oh, by the way, Xixi said she asked you to bring that thing back for me. Do you have it now?”

“What is it?”

“Huh? Xixi didn’t tell you?” Huo Mian pretended to be surprised.

“Oh… That thing. Yes, she told me, but I was in a hurry and totally forgot about it. I’ll bring it back next time.”

“It doesn’t matter. I’ll ask Xixi to mail it to me.”

“Okay.”

“Miss Nie, please sit down and eat. The show will begin soon.”

“Okay. Happy birthday, Dr. Huo.”

“Thank you.”

Huo Mian remained smiling until she returned to Qin Chu’s side…

“Honey, you were reckless… I know you wanted to see for certain if she’s an imposter, but still you shouldn’t have touched her face.”

“Ha. I was impatient.”

“Look at the thick powder on your hand. Come with me; I’ll help you clean it.”

Qin Chu scolded her as if she was a child; then he took her hand and led her into their private lounge room where they could talk in private.

Qin Chu washed her hand with liquid soap repeatedly until no scent of foundation was left.

“It’s a pity that you’re not a doctor. You’re a bigger clean freak than I am.”

“Don’t kid with me. Now tell me what you found.”

Qin Chu knew Huo Mian did it for a purpose.

“She’s not disguised with a human-skin mask. I saw Yan’s mask which usually leaves a tiny crack behind the ears. But she doesn’t have it.”

“Still she might have had plastic surgery.”

“No. I touched her cheek bone and found nothing.”

“Then she’s indeed Nie Lingxun?” Qin Chu asked.

Huo Mian shook her head.

“Um… I’m not sure.”

“Honey, I’m confused. You said she doesn’t have a plastic surgery or a mask. Who else could she be?” Qin Chu was an extremely smart guy, but even he was confused.
