Don't Burn Them! Even Witches Have Value!

Looking at the Viscount of White Pine, who was holding his awakened son and weeping bitterly, Lynn rubbed his right thumb and index finger together.

How much of a consultation fee should he charge this time?

Lynn rubbed his chin and began to weigh his options.

The reason that the Saintess couldn’t cure him was because the curse of the unknown dark magic had interfered with her detection.

And he could treat it because he happened to know the information on how to alleviate the poison.

So, should he charge a fee similar to what a Saintess would for a single visit?

Speaking of which, he had never heard of this Frost Ice Poison before. How exactly was it made?

——————————————————

【Frost Ice Poison, a special venom produced by the demi-human Snake Tribe. In low doses, if not alleviated by alcohol or expelled by Fire Magic, it will gradually freeze a person’s life force】

——————————————————

‘Snake Tribe?’

‘The former royal tribe of the Frost Kingdom that had been exiled?’

In an instant, Lynn felt the hairs on his body stand on end.

Originally, he thought that he had stepped into a large net.

But now he discovered that what surrounded him weren’t silk threads, but a pile of hissing, venomous snakes!

Without a doubt, the Viscount’s son had definitely been targeted by someone’s conspiracy.

The Veil of Interference needed to be renewed every half a month, which meant that within every half-month period, a witch who knew dark magic would come into contact with the Viscount’s eldest son.

But, why was it related to the Snake Tribe?

Was it purchased snake venom? Or was there direct participation from a snake?

Or was that dark witch herself a snake woman?

And what connection did the apprentice at Dawson’s place have with this matter...

No, besides that, there was also the situation with the current Frost royal family. Things had suddenly become extremely complicated.

He had to look at it from a cost-benefit perspective, and not focus on superficial cause and effect.

The motives of different people might be complex, but the interwoven interests would definitely tend toward stability in the end.

Analyze the benefits, analyze the costs, analyze everything he knew.

First, could the snake venom be related to that Dragonborn named Ai’na?

Impossible, because whether it was deep cooperation or simply purchasing the venom, that arrogant princess would never agree.

Second, did the poison in the apprentice and the Viscount’s eldest son come from the same source?

Inevitably, because the Snake Tribe was already secretive and hard to find, it was extremely unlikely for two different Snake Tribe factions’ conspiracies to occur simultaneously in a small viscountcy.

Then, without a doubt, there were now two independent and even opposing forces gathered in or around White Pine City.

One side was the conspiracy faction related to the Snake Tribe, and the other side was the capture faction related to the Dragonborn.

And the only thing that seemed to connect him to them was the matter of Iyanna.

Looking at it this way, even though he knew some things, the fire hadn’t yet reached his own body.

But if he continued to stay at the Viscount’s mansion, that might not necessarily be the case.

He had to leave as soon as possible!

Before the incident was over and he could confirm that the Viscount wouldn’t betray him, he couldn’t expose the final treatment plan of Fire Magic for now. The fewer people who knew about Elysia, the better.

Then, the consultation fee could be exchanged for an equivalent amount of grain, to be delivered by the Viscount later.

It was still night-time curfew, plus the Frost Princess’s forces might still be looking for him, so he couldn’t leave the city now.

The first thing tomorrow morning, he would immediately take the targeted Security Captain to the carriage shop, grab his stuff, and run.

If danger was truly difficult to avoid, perhaps he could only rely on ‘it’.

Thinking this, Lynn touched the necklace around his neck.

After tactfully proposing that he wanted grain as the consultation fee, the Viscount agreed without hesitation.

Although he really wanted to continue thanking Lynn for his help, the father and son hadn’t communicated for too long, so they wished that they could chat for an entire day.

Thus, Lynn and his companion were led to their respective rooms by a servant.

Iyanna, who had finally replenished the calories she consumed by pulling the cart, contentedly sprawled onto the large bed in the guest room.

And then she was kicked off again.

”Mmm! That hurts!”

Iyanna, who was now lying prone on the floor, puffed out her cheeks.

”A Security Captain should always be sensing the situation on the ground. This is written in the contract, to prevent the enemy from ambushing us.”

A somewhat anxious Lynn said self-righteously.

”Is that so?”

Iyanna tilted her head, her right ear twitching.

”Yes, it is... Have you forgotten those two fellows we met before?”

”I only remember that it smelled really bad.”

”Bad is right. Otherwise, that tiger-man wouldn’t have forgotten to chase and kill us for a moment.”

Lynn crossed his arms over his chest smugly.

”Iyanna doesn’t know who they are, but Iyanna knows that they’re strong, very strong.”

Looking at the husky who revealed a look of apprehension, Lynn nodded.

”That’s indeed the case, such experts are rarely seen.

So, you must be even more vigilant. From now on, you’ll sleep on the floor, understand?”

After depriving his employee of her right to a stable sleep, a terrified Lynn lay on the bed and began to organize the information he had unexpectedly learned today in his mind, hoping to fall asleep this way.

The most important thing was undoubtedly the unique response form of the system.

Originally, he thought that it was effective on those with Battle Aura or magic, but now, it seemed like it was very likely only effective on Battle Aura or magic itself.

Otherwise, it would be impossible to explain why a disembodied curse could have a separate pop-up window.

Furthermore, his relationship with the Viscount could be utilized. He believed that if he continued to maintain it, the other party wouldn’t even care about Elysia.

And then, perhaps by using this medical treatment activity, he could consider the subsequent sales of his pharmaceutical research and development.

Speaking of R&D, he wondered how Theodore’s research was going…

With complex thoughts, Lynn finally fell into a dream.

This time, no strange revolving lantern appeared. It was a peaceful, long night.

The next morning, Lynn abruptly opened his eyes.

Having already set a mental alarm clock for his escape plan, he immediately woke up Iyanna, who was sleeping in a star shape on the floor, and prepared to grab his stuff and run immediately.

”My Lord! My Lord!”

Just as he was preparing to leave with a sleepy-eyed Iyanna, the panicked voices of the guards came from ahead.

With a hint of confusion, he looked over, and then he saw extremely flustered people laying out furniture everywhere, while other servants were hastily cleaning the already neat and tidy floor.

What was happening?

Never mind, it was none of his business. Running away was his current priority. If he didn’t run now, he might not get another chance.

Just as he was planning this, the guards’ shouts became more informative.

”Lord Viscount, an honored guest, an honored guest has arrived!”

Something was wrong.

At this moment, Lynn felt his sixth-sense warning him.

It was as if countless voices were roaring around him— Run!

Yes, he had to run quickly.

Thus, Lynn took Iyanna and hurriedly headed for the main gate of the Viscount’s mansion. Without even having time to say goodbye, he pulled open the door.

And then, he was stunned.

The blue-and-white long dress looked simple, but it was adorned with dazzling glass gems, revealing supreme nobility.

Her fair skin was like congealed fat, but for some reason, faint scale patterns could be seen on the crystal-clear surface.

A pure white and powerful scaled tail dragged behind the hem of her dress, swaying lazily and elegantly.

Two small pairs of horns were faintly visible outside her pure white hair, appearing incomparably mysterious.

Very similar, but completely different... except for those eyes.

Those blood-red eyes filled with a sneering, murderous intent.

At the same time, another shout from a servant rang out:

”Lord Viscount! The Princess of the Frost Kingdom has come for a special visit!”

‘Haha, what a coincidence. We meet again.’

This was Lynn’s last thought before his brain crashed.

T/N - Lol, not fast enough, MC. Should have run away earlier. Still, so this “Blood Snake Society” is connected to the Snake tribe, which was the previous royalty of the Frost Kingdom. Most likely, it’s a subordinate group of the latter. And they control this group by giving them poison based on the apprentice in Dawson’s shop. And they’re making money by kidnaping demi-humans and selling them over to Milan. The apprentice was probably planted in Dawson’s shop to keep an eye on him.

What I’m annoyed about is how this princess jumps to conclusion and suddenly assumes that the MC is part of the human trafficking and slave trade just because he has Iyanna with him. And she even goes for the violent option and threatens the MC to confess. Obviously, he’ll react violently in response. I know this is supposed to be for comedic effect, but I hope we can get this over with because these kinds of misunderstandings aren’t my cup of tea.
