Don't Burn Them! Even Witches Have Value!

”Fun!”

Lynn looked at Iyanna rolling around on the bed, a look of gratification appearing on his face.

Thanks to her, he was able to stay in this inn for free.

The reason it turned out this way was that Lynn and Iyanna, who had been chased all over the place by the guards, had parked their vehicle randomly and blocked the door of this tavern and inn establishment.

When the landlady, who had been awakened by the huge commotion, came out to shout at them, she saw the sleepy-eyed cart-pulling laborer, Iyanna.

After that, she felt a great deal of heartache for her.

A bewildered Lynn was then cursed at several times, labeled by her as a vicious and stingy biological father.

The landlady, who couldn’t bear to see a cute child freezing outside, gave a vacant room to Iyanna.

After placing the goods and the sled in the inn’s storage room, Lynn also brazenly moved in.

Although this wooden room was cramped and the soundproofing was extremely poor…

It was free.

Although it was right next to the latrine so an indescribable smell kept wafting into the room…

It was free.

Although the bedding was hard and lumpy…

It was free.

What more could one ask for when it was free?

Even if there was a luxury suite rentable for one copper coin right next door right now, he wouldn’t spare it a second glance.

”But, Boss, it smells so bad in here.”

”This is the scent of free stuff. Why would it smell bad?”

At the same time, Lynn lay prone on the bed.

The reason he wasn’t lying on his back was that his buttocks were still in a state of heavy trauma.

Without the cold wind outside, he suddenly discovered that Iyanna took up quite a lot of space.

So, he kicked the girl, who was still rolling around, off the bed.

”Mmm!”

Looking at the Security Captain whose tail was bristling and who had an unhappy expression, Lynn spoke carelessly.

”Be good. As long as you sleep down there, you can eat as much as you want tomorrow morning.”

The girl, looking in the direction Lynn pointed at, saw the bags full of food in the corner. Her mouth immediately began to water, and she obediently curled into a ball on the floor.

——————————————————

Hmph hmph, he had completely grasped this foodie husky.

Lynn, who had been constantly frustrated by Elysia, found the confidence of being a boss through Iyanna.

Since he had slept for a while during the first half of the night, Lynn’s brain was much clearer now.

As such, before going back to sleep this time, he began to analyze his current situation.

First of all, because of his reasonable resistance against extortion, besides temporarily being unable to find a buyer for his batch of goods on hand, he had also successfully caused the largest grain merchant in the area to cut off his fief’s supplies.

However, he was quite certain that the other party couldn’t possibly give up on doing business. It was highly probable that they just wanted to use this method to pressure him and then force him to compromise.

And Lynn would absolutely never compromise because the other party would inevitably hike up the prices of the grain.

Looking at it this way, the previous Baron Reinhardt likely bought the wheat seeds and farming tools specifically to prevent this kind of situation.

But, unfortunately, Blackstone Fief wasn’t a place suitable for farming.

Besides that, the identity of the apprentice in the other party’s shop was suspicious.

Judging from the name the fat pig shouted, that apprentice most likely concealed his true identity.

But why?

Combining it with the poison in the other party’s body, he felt like the man was most likely hiding from enemies.

According to the system, Elysia’s fire magic could very likely neutralize the poison in him. This was a potential talent.

Then, adding in the submission of the death certificate to the Church and the visit to the Viscount of White Pine, the things he had to do suddenly increased.

Fortunately, he had told Employee Number One to pack them a bit more food.

Contemplating the things he needed to do, Lynn slowly closed his eyes.

This was his first good sleep since officially transmigrating, and his drowsy consciousness sank into a deep slumber.

In his darkened perspective, the past memories of the previous Lynn flashed by like a revolving lantern.

And in a certain corner, a scene Lynn had never noticed quietly emphasized itself...

————————

”Then it’s a promise...”

Golden-red hair that was like the radiance of the morning sun, reflecting in his heart.

”Mhm, it’s a promise.”

He responded as such.

That was right, a promise.

”In the name of Elcasinoreas, I swear…

When I grow up, I’ll definitely bring you happiness…

My beautiful and noble...”

————————

”Beautiful and noble who?!”

Lynn abruptly woke up from the bed.

Why did the dream have to end without finishing?

Patting his somewhat hazy brain, Lynn looked out the sunny window and fell into thought.

From the vague feeling he had, that seemed to be a memory from the previous Lynn’s childhood.

And if there were no surprises, the owner of that golden-red hair should be some noble young lady.

A young lady who could be so close to him and have that hair color, in his memory, should be...

”None of the girls my age from the great families have that hair color!”

Lynn pounded the bedding in extreme agony.

He had thought that he had a noble young lady as a childhood sweetheart, then perhaps he could have a chance to live off a woman.

But unfortunately, reality was cruel.

If there really was one, then his inherited memories would definitely have a deep impression of her. After all, this kind of childhood intimacy would likely lead to an arranged marriage from infancy.

Wait, even if he really had an impression of her, it wouldn’t be much use now.

After all, when a wall starts to fall, everyone gives it a push.

As soon as his family was eliminated, their former family friends began to bitterly curse them as treacherous rebels and evil villains.

Never mind a marriage alliance, even the pet dog he had sent previously as a gift had been discarded by the daughter of the Grand Duke of Dragon City.

Interests were the eternal main theme. The so-called ‘friendship’ was based entirely on mutual benefits.

So his dream of living off a woman was highly unlikely... or was it?

Lynn touched his own face.

Actually, with his looks, it didn’t seem impossible for him to ”eat soft rice*”, right?

Right, speaking of eating, why had there been a constant chewing sound by his ear up until now?

With a bad premonition, he whipped his head around.

Lynn shockingly saw Iyanna leaning against the food bags and making high-frequency chewing sounds.

More importantly, the bags were already a third empty?!

”Stop!”

Lynn let out a sharp, explosive roar.

————————

”Wuwu... Mishter Lynn doesn’t keep his word...”

”This is a special circumstance. Food’s very precious, understand?

Trust me, once we find an opportunity to sell this batch of goods, I’ll immediately buy you a big meat bone to chew on.”

【Favorability: -5 (Mishter Lynn likes to lie)】

Iyanna, who was pulling the cart, still had a miserable expression.

Alright, perhaps this husky was a bit less foolish than he had expected.

Lynn, realizing that he couldn’t just draw big pies in the sky for her randomly, began to calculate whether he could survive by eating one meal every two days.

Speaking of which, today he planned to first go submit the death certificate, then he would go visit the Viscount of White Pine...

By the way, he would see if he could bring Iyanna to eat a meal at the other party’s house.

No, it should be said that their main purpose was to mooch off a meal. The visit was just incidental.

Just as Lynn revealed a treacherous smile, in a corner of the street, an amber vertical pupil hidden in the shadows captured their figures.

”Go tell the Lady that we’ve found Target Number Two.

Tell her to rest assured and handle her matters. I’ll continue to follow them.”

*A Chinese slang that means living off of a woman financially.

T/N - Uh oh. It seems like this isn’t going the way I expected it to be. The princess’s men sound a bit too hostile to the MC. Let me guess, demi-human trafficking and slavery? Iyanna did mention that her parents were taken away by humans when their village was attacked. Also, I wonder who that girl was? The previous Lynn seems to have a lot of mysteries and secrets as well.
