Madame is Pretending to be an Academic Slacker Again!

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Drops to His Knees with a Thud

Upon hearing Mrs. Qin talk about marriage, Qin Xiaoshuang rolled her eyes, ”What’s so good about marrying? Is it really great to marry a cripple? If Big Sister knew, she definitely wouldn’t agree!”

Qin Wenrou put down the phone and said seriously, ”That man is very wealthy. She wouldn’t be at a loss marrying him.”

Qin Xiaoshuang raised her voice and laughed coldly, ”If it’s not a loss, why don’t you marry him? Don’t think I don’t know why you’re cozying up to Lan Yingjun!”

Qin Wenrou was at a loss for words, her eyes turning red, ”Xiao Shuang, don’t speak nonsense. I... Brother Jun and I have known each other for a long time, and have always had a good relationship.”

Qin Xiaoshuang scoffed coldly, ”Hmph. Do you dare to swear to it?”

Qin Wenrou stammered, ”I, why wouldn’t I dare...”

Mrs. Qin wept sorrowfully, ”Stop talking, your sister is no longer here, the Nalan family’s marriage...”

Qin Wenrou grew nervous, ”Mom, I absolutely won’t marry in her place.”

Mrs. Qin sighed, ”Sigh...”

Qin Xiaoshuang let out a cold laugh.

Qin Wenrou quickly explained, ”I have a boyfriend, Mom. Besides, I can’t take my sister’s fiancé, Mr. Nalan is my brother-in-law, it’s not right.”

Qin Xiaoshuang retorted, ”Hmph, you just don’t want to take a crippled brother-in-law, right.”

Qin Wenrou, ”You...”

Mrs. Qin was vexed by the argument, ”The Nalan family’s marriage, it’ll have to be cancelled...”

The old servant, Aunt Cui, said worriedly, ”Madam, the company has been under tight financial constraints recently, claiming the cash flow is about to break, can’t be sustained anymore. If the marriage is cancelled, I’m afraid...”

I’m afraid the Qin Family’s company will directly collapse.

Just a few days after the young lady passed away, the company couldn’t hold itself together, there were internal disputes and people taking advantage, even competitors seized the chance to step on them.

The Qin Family just happened to be short of people, with no one to rely on.

Mrs. Qin sighed, ”Sigh, our Qin Family’s fate is terrible, we are meant to suffer this calamity... Let’s first make sure to handle Xin’er’s funeral properly.”

Qin Wenrou supported Mrs. Qin and ordered the servants, ”Hurry, get it done properly.”

Aunt Cui nodded, ”I’ll close the coffin now.”

But Qin Xiaoshuang still hugged the coffin tightly, ”Alive or dead, I want to see her. Until I see the body, sister is not dead! She will definitely come back!”

Qin Wenrou frowned, ”Do you think this is good for her? You’re disturbing her funeral!”

Qin Xiaoshuang glared angrily, ”What kind of funeral is this? Just setting up a table and hanging a white banner to brush it off? Have you ever seen anyone holding a funeral at the back door, all hush-hush?”

Aunt Cui explained, ”The funeral is low-key, just in case, so that if someday the second miss gets engaged, it won’t be overshadowed by bad luck when walking out the main entrance.”

Qin Xiaoshuang burst out furiously, ”Bad luck?! Qin Xin is my sister too! Why don’t any of you consider that! Qin Wenrou, do you have no conscience? Do you remember how she gave up her college dreams for us in the past? You know she loved astronomy and physics! She only studied medicine to help treat your and my illnesses! She worked tirelessly day and night to pay our medical bills, to find you a suitable heart for transplant! And now you find her funeral unlucky, that it might ruin your future engagement from using the front door?!”

Qin Wenrou, ”...”

Aunt Cui, ”...”

Can the dead really compete with the living?

The dead naturally have to make way for the living.

This young master truly doesn’t understand.

Aunt Cui continued to carry out Qin Wenrou’s orders and instructed the servants to close the coffin.

During the tugging, the wooden stool propping the coffin unsteadily tipped over, and the whole coffin fell onto the grass with a ”bang—”.

Everyone stopped, holding their breaths.

A light blue school uniform jacket, stained in blood, floated out from the coffin.

The school badge on the upper left corner still pinned Imperial University’s emblem, with the name embroidered below: Qin Xin.

This was the school uniform Qin Xin wore when she had an accident at Ice Lake.

The sole proof of her demise.

Having lost so much blood, how could she possibly survive?

Qin Xiaoshuang silently stared at the school uniform, tears uncontrollably and abundantly streaming down!

”Sister—!”

He fell to his knees with a thud, hugging the school uniform and cried, awash with tears.
