Seven Cubs, Seven Fathers, Zero Days Off

Chapter 261: Chapter 259: The Purple Rabbit

It was Shen Yue.

It was her, and she was okay!!

Huang Ziyue finally let out a sigh of relief.

His strength left him all at once, and he collapsed to the ground, his gaze fixed greedily on the figure above!!

A tear slipped from the corner of Bai Chaosi’s eye.

In that moment, his dead heart had been revived!

He slowly lay back on the ground, quietly watching her as she stood atop the giant beast’s head, shaking the bell in her hand again and again!

Although they couldn’t hear any sound, they could clearly see the giant beast gradually quieting down!

The heatwave swirling around its body was dissipating bit by bit.

The lines of blood floating in mid-air also slowly came to a halt, then rapidly receded.

It was as if they were returning to wherever they had come from.

Shen Yue stood on the giant beast’s head, the bell in her hand swaying back and forth.

The ringing of the bell seemed to carry an invisible power, like a divine sound, seeping into the great beast’s soul.

It caused the violent aura around its body to gradually subside.

The murky memories in its mind began to flash before its eyes like a revolving lantern...

Its birth, its abandonment, its escape, its growth, every person it had killed, every time it had devoured lifeblood...

The things it once yearned for and aspired to...

What it once possessed and what it had lost.

Everything grew clear in its mind, only to begin fading away again...

It was as if it had only come to the mortal world for a brief visit, like a fleeting dream...

The bitterness and pain were all just brief experiences within this dream!

Now, the dream was over, and its true self had returned.

Finally, the images in its mind froze on the face of a girl in a red dress. She was gently stroking its head:

”A Zhi, if only you were human, then you could talk to me!”

”A Zhi, Mother says there are thousands of worlds beyond this Spirit Realm. What do you think the people in those worlds are like?”

”A Zhi, from now on, wherever I go, you go with me, okay? We’ll never be apart!”

”A Zhi, you’re the cutest, most adorable rabbit in the whole world! I like you the most!”

Those warm scenes of their time together replayed one by one...

Finally, the little girl was in the midst of a fire, being carried by a woman who was desperately fleeing, while it chased frantically after them.

Its eyes saw only her.

She cried out to it, ”A Zhi, run! Run... Hurry, A Zhi!!”

Until at last, it saw the little girl being thrown over a ten-thousand-meter waterfall...

It charged desperately toward the waterfall and, without any hesitation, jumped in after her.

The bell on its neck fell off at that moment, sinking into the water.

And it, too, was swallowed by the whirlpool...

At this moment, Shen Yue, still standing on the giant beast’s head, stopped her movements!

The giant beast beneath her feet was shrinking bit by bit. Its violent aura began to soften, and the blood-red color in its eyes slowly faded...

Seeing this, she leaped, seizing the opportunity to jump onto its shoulder. Just as the giant beast’s body had shrunk to the size of a small mountain...

She quickly condensed an invisible rope with her Vitality Power and instantly hung the Golden Bell from her hand onto its neck.

Then, she flew down and landed on the ground.

Before her, the giant beast shrank inch by inch, and in an instant, it had dwindled to the size of her feet.

Shen Yue looked down. A short-haired rabbit covered in soft, purple fur was tilting its head back, staring up at her with a pair of large, round eyes.

Its beautiful, glassy eyes were as dazzling as gems, reflecting her image.

Its pointed ears, tinged with a faint pink, drooped beside its chubby cheeks. Its little pink nose twitched nonstop, and its fluffy, short purple tail bobbed up and down, as if it had seen its favorite person and was filled with joy!

Shen Yue looked at the Golden Bell hanging around its neck. Everything was just as she had guessed, just as she had thought.

The Purple Rabbit was the Guardian Beast that had escaped from the Seven Great Divine Palaces!

As for which Divine Hall it was originally supposed to be in, she had a good idea—it was likely Snow Ridge, where Bai Chaosi was from.

Looking at this soft, cute, and innocently charming rabbit on the ground—one that looked like anyone could just step on it—who would have thought it had such a terrifying, cruel, and bloodthirsty side?

’The voice in the dream once told me that the Seven Great Divine Palaces suppress the seven Guardian Beasts.’

’Searching for the Divine Halls was, in fact, searching for the Guardian Beasts. But among the seven Guardian Beasts, one was extremely special—it was an Evil Beast.’

’Good and evil are separated by a single thought.’

’When evil, it can create mountains of corpses and seas of blood; when good, it can stand guard over a whole region.’

’And that Evil Beast’s soul was damaged a hundred years ago. It has been hiding among the Beastmen, and its true form can only reappear once its soul is made whole again.’

’At the time, I thought this Evil Beast must have transformed into some ferocious monster. I never expected it would transform into a human, and a rabbit at that.’

At first, she had suspected Hu Tu.

She became even more certain it was him when she learned that Hu Tu had killed his own nine children.

But when she heard Bai Chaosi say that the Purple Rabbit was Xiao Ya’s Companion Beast, that they were two halves of the same soul, and heard him say that their fusion would awaken that ability to steal *qi*, she began to have doubts.

Perhaps Xiao Ya was the real Guardian Beast.

But it wasn’t until she was in the hidden compartment and saw Xiao Ya’s past, saw that Golden Bell, that she became completely certain: Xiao Ya was the Guardian Beast.

And she also understood that the black-robed person’s goal wasn’t her. Like her, they were also looking for the Guardian Beast.

Moreover, she was afraid the black-robed person had also initially mistaken Hu Tu for the Guardian Beast. That was why they had contacted Hu Tu three years ago, promising him immortality under a pleasant guise.

In reality, they were just waiting for the Guardian Beast’s soul to reunite and its power to awaken, at which point they would feed it a Soul Control Gu to completely control it for their own use.

At that point, even if she found the Guardian Beast, it would be useless, because the Soul Control Gu could control its soul, and even her Vitality Power wouldn’t be able to awaken it.

One could only imagine what would have happened if she had been a step too late tonight and Xiao Ya had fallen into the black-robed person’s hands. They would have gained control of an Evil Beast powerful enough to destroy the world, and the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Not only would she be unable to find all seven Guardian Beasts, but the world-ending catastrophe might also arrive ahead of schedule!

A wave of fear washed over her at the thought!

Just then, the Purple Rabbit on the ground leaned against her ankle and nuzzled her with its fluffy head.

She looked down and met its glistening eyes. It seemed to be able to sense the fear and unease in her heart.

It was doing its best to comfort her!

Shen Yue slowly crouched down. She didn’t reach out to pet it, but simply let out a long sigh of relief.

She looked at it, wondering, ’Does the Purple Rabbit still have Xiao Ya’s memories now?’

In truth, for the Guardian Beast to recover its power and awaken, it wasn’t about the Purple Rabbit’s soul merging with Xiao Ya, but Xiao Ya’s soul reuniting with the Purple Rabbit.

Xiao Ya was merely a soul born from the damaged fragment of the Purple Rabbit’s soul; she was just an incomplete part of the Purple Rabbit.

It could be said that the Purple Rabbit had split off a piece of its own soul to experience what it was like to be human.

So, no one knew why it insisted on experiencing life as a human, tasting the myriad facets of the mortal world!

And no one knew if it still retained Xiao Ya’s memories.

Perhaps, only it itself knew the truth.
