Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

Zhao Xue recalled the events of the past few days, and her boundless anger surged forth, swinging faster and faster.

Thud, thud, thud…

Blood splattered freely onto her snow-white body, as if she were cleansing all the humiliation she had suffered in this manner, feeling no fear whatsoever.

Zhang Su sat by the side, not stopping Zhao Xue from venting her anger. He wasn’t afraid of her becoming cold and murderous; he only wanted her to resolve her inner turmoil.

Clang.

After countless strikes, Zhao Xue felt exhausted and collapsed to the ground, resembling a blood-soaked temptress climbing out of an abyss of blood.

Sometimes, transformation happens in an instant!

“Brother Su, why did you come to the store?”

Zhao Xue wiped the blood from her face gently and looked at Zhang Su.

“I was originally coming to the store and met Luezi on the way. He told me about what happened to you… This isn’t a place to talk. Let’s go; we have more than ten people now. We’ll talk when we reach a safe place!”

Zhang Su once again removed a piece of clothing and draped it over Zhao Xue. As he prepared to lift her, he noticed a set of keys lying quietly next to the ground meat. After a glance, he guessed the yacht key might be among them. Whether useful or not, he pocketed them.

“Come here, let me carry you!”

“Okay.”

Zhao Xue responded softly, not daring to look Zhang Su in the eye, akin to a child afraid to face their parents after doing something wrong.

Zhao Xue was wrapped in a blood-stained coat, and with a grunt, Zhang Su carried her out of the warehouse.

When Zhang Su and Zhao Xue appeared in the candlelight, everyone was startled. They looked like demons emerging from hell, where in the dim candlelight, blood appeared as dark rather than red.

“Brother Su, Sister Xue… Sister Xue, boo hoo hoo.”

Wu Lue held his beloved laptop in his hands, crying out when he saw Zhang Su carrying Zhao Xue’s limp form from the warehouse.

“Xiaowu, don’t cry. I’m not dead…”

Zhao Xue turned her head to look at the tearful Wu Lue, feeling comforted, and suddenly noticed many people around, quickly turning her face back to Zhang Su.

“Bro, did you smash and chop that bastard to pieces?”

Zhao Dezhu’s face twitched, seeing fragments of meat hanging from Zhang Su and Zhao Xue’s bodies.

“Humph, he got off easy!” Zhang Su snorted coldly, not revealing it was Zhao Xue’s doing.

“Are you okay? How about her?”

Zheng Xinyu hurried forward to check on Zhang Su’s condition.

“I’m fine, Xiaoxue is a bit weak.”

Zhang Su shook his head with a smile, though the smile looked terrifying on his blood-stained face.

Zhao Xue heard a female voice talking with concern to Zhang Su, and turned her head again. A cute face came into view, and a flicker of flame in her heart slowly dimmed.

Zhang Su had no idea about Zhao Xue’s psychological changes. He looked at the chaotic convenience store and asked, “What’s going on here?”

Lu Yubo sneered and said, “All five guys are dead, but Lanlan got hit by an arrow, and, um… Chen Hanzhou has a cut on his face, might leave a scar!”

“Pei Lan, how are you doing?”

Zhang Su asked with concern.

“I’m okay… Brother Su, it just kinda hurts a bit.”

Pei Lan lay sideways on the floor, afraid to move, with a crossbow arrow piercing through her arm.

“Alright, let’s go back and let Xiaoshan treat you!” Then Zhang Su looked at everyone and said, “Take the weapons with priority. Some of you go to the warehouse and bring back the crossbows and crossbow arrows. Hurry, back to the dry cleaners!”

Everyone moved swiftly at the command, but Zhao Dezhu and Chen Hanzhou were startled when they walked into the warehouse.

Inside the dry cleaners, Tan Huajun sat alone by the window, her head probing back and forth. She had no time to admire the star-filled night sky, the silent cold night made her very tense.

Suddenly she heard rapid and heavy footsteps, and peered in the direction Zhang Su and the others had left, spotting shadows flitting by.

“They’re back, they’re back!”

Tan Huajun shuddered slightly and softly called to the few people in the room, who were as still as monks in meditation.

Zhong Xiaoshan and Yuwen reacted at the same time, quickly standing up, and just as they were about to head to the stairs, they heard footsteps approaching.

“Quick, clear some space, someone is hurt!”

Chen Hanzhou was the first to rush back into the dry cleaners, things jangling on his back, breathing heavily. He obviously wasn’t referring to himself since the wound on his face wasn’t deep; the bleeding had stopped by now.

“Injured? Oh oh!”

Zhong Xiaoshan reacted quickly, the scene resembled a night shift at the ER, only without bright lights and sanitary wards.

She swiftly cleared a flat area, and before she could lay down any clothing, heard the sound of heavy breathing, which she could recognize as Zhang Su’s. Her heart tightened.

“Is Xinyu hurt?!”

That was her first thought.

But she immediately heard Zheng Xinyu’s voice, “Two people are injured, move over a bit more space!”

The second floor of the dry cleaners wasn’t small, but cluttered with many items, making it cramped among the many people present.

“Here, there’s space here, quickly lay her down!”

Yuwen helped the now-awake Yu Qing to stand aside, giving up the spot where she had rested before. After the effect of strong medication and some rest, Yu Qing’s condition had improved somewhat.

“Lanlan, quick, lie down, it’s okay, don’t worry, Dr. Zhong’s miraculous hands will save you, you won’t die, relax!”

Lu Yubo comforted Pei Lan while placing her on the arranged spot.

Zhang Su crouched down, gently laying Zhao Xue where Yu Qing had rested before, and said, “Bring over some wet wipes!”

He and Zhao Xue were covered in sticky blood, uncomfortable to endure.

“Shot by an arrow…” Zhong Xiaoshan felt her head ache, she looked to Zhang Su and asked, “Brother Su, what’s your situation?”

“Xiaoxue is mainly weak, handle Pei Lan’s wound first.”

Zhang Su took wet wipes from Zheng Xinyu and began wiping his face.

“Well, alright, you guys help me look around, there must be needle and thread here somewhere, and get me a sharp knife!”

Zhong Xiaoshan felt like she was thrown into the deep end without choice; with the current conditions, they had to make do.

As long as Pei Lan could endure the pain, handling the arrow wound wasn’t too difficult for Zhong Xiaoshan, fortunately, the arrow was only in the arm.

“I have knives, I brought back quite a few good ones!”

Chen Hanzhou immediately opened his bag and shook out a lot of weapons, allowing Zhong Xiaoshan to pick one.

Yuwen and others searched around with flashlights for needle and thread.

No one was idle, actively participating in helping the wounded. Not just because Pei Lan was part of the team, they all hoped that if they got injured one day, their companions would help them too.

Helping others is helping oneself.

“Brother Su, I can wipe myself, and, the medicine!”

Zhao Xue tightly grasped Zhang Su’s wrist, her eyes flickering.

“Oh, right, I’ll go get it, don’t worry. Teacher Xiaoyu, you’re better now, could you help wipe the blood off Xiaoxue?”

Yu Qing was indeed much improved. Upon hearing this, she quickly stepped forward.

“Here you go.”

Zhang Su handed the wet wipes to Yu Qing and headed for the stairs.

Zheng Xinyu’s eyes turned, and she followed Zhang Su down the stairs.

“Honey, your relationship with Xiaoxue isn’t just a simple employer-employee one, is it?”

Once downstairs, Zheng Xinyu softly asked as she leaned close to Zhang Su.

Zhang Su sighed, lit a cigarette, and said, “She liked me before, and now… I don’t know. There was a time I liked her too, when she first came to my store. Later, when I realized she was a good girl, I didn’t pursue her.”

“What do you mean? Are you saying I’m not a good woman, that’s why you’re with me?” Zheng Xinyu asked with a pout.

“What nonsense, you’re also a good girl, like her. If it weren’t for this disaster, I’d still be collecting rent from you!”

Zhang Su helplessly rolled his eyes, thinking how amusing women can be, even having the energy to be jealous at a time like this. Remembering her earlier behavior, he patted Zheng Xinyu on the head and said with a smile, “You did well earlier, here’s a reward kiss.”

“Eww, gross saliva…”

Zheng Xinyu giggled, wiping the cheek Zhang Su had kissed.
