Rise of The Demon General

”Stop whining. We are short on time,” Amon reprimanded.

Zee Whang read the data on his monitor screen. ”I can identify the weakest spot along these chains, but I can’t stop their regenerating power. Moreover, from what I gleaned through their words of power, their regenerating power is not limited to recovering their words of power. They can even mend the chains back if they somehow break.”

”So... Is there a solution? Or do I have no choice but to leave empty-handed?” Amon asked.

”I won’t leave my mother!” Di Ying exclaimed after hearing Amon’s statement.

Amon didn’t respond to Di Ying. His eyes remained on Zee Whang.

Zee Whang didn’t return the stare. He continued studying the reading on his monitor. ”Well, if my observation is correct, we can prevent the chains from physically mending themselves back by breaking all of them at the same time.”

”All of them?” Amon looked around the chamber. A total of ten giant chains were embedded in the surrounding walls. These giant chains served as Di Yu’s primary means of confinement. It was these chains that supplied the energy to the barrier that confined Di Yu. These chains extended and wrapped around Di Yu’s body. Accompanying these giant chains were also smaller chains that wrapped around Di Yu’s limbs.

”Yeah,” Zee Whang answered. ”How many bottles of that enchantment poison do you have? We must pour them on all these ten chains at the same time if we wish it to work.”

”It should be no problem. I still have twelve bottles.”

Zee Whang grumbled inwardly. Amon had twelve bottles, and he was still unwilling to use one on the gate.

”Then that leaves the chain-breaking part,” Zee Whang said. ”You said we only have a few seconds before the words of power regenerate? That will be a problem unless you can move very fast to break all those chains within that window.”

”We don’t need to be fast,” Amon said.

”Huh? What do you mean? Even without their words of power, these chains are still extremely hard to break. If you are thinking about using your puppet army, I can assure you that they don’t have sufficient firepower. You need at least someone with the Supreme Stage power.”

Amon didn’t answer. Instead, he silently sent signals. Soon, three beings materialized around him. The first was Lin Li. The second was the already-repaired Titan battle puppet. The third was another battle puppet, except it had a different appearance from a normal one.

The third battle puppet didn’t possess a humanoid shape. It more resembled a spirit beast. It had a serpentine body like Di Yu and Di Ying, but unlike them, it had six legs. Its mechanical head resembled a wolf’s head with two long metallic antlers. Anyone with sufficient knowledge of spirit beasts would say that the battle puppet resembled a hell beast.

It laughed. Anyone who heard its cackle would say that it also sounded like one. That was because it was. The hell beast battle puppet contained Bo Wu’s soul jewel, which used its soul to power the battle puppet instead of a power source like normal puppets.

”Hehehe. What is our target today?” Bo Wu asked. ”Whatever it is, I want to claim the carcass!”

Dao Su, who had just walked out of the prison box’s portal, responded, ”No way! You have already gotten your turn last time. It should be my turn now! Why is your gluttony unquenchable? Must you always compete with me?”

”Back off, you four-armed freak! I replenish and grow my soul power by consuming others. I need them more than you. All you do with them are pointless experiments.”

”Fuck you! My experiments are not pointless!”

”Sorry to disappoint you two,” Amon told them. ”Our targets this time are these chains.”

”Huh? Chains? What the hell? What do these chains do to piss you off, mate?” Bo Wu asked.

Amon ignored the silly question. He asked Dao Su, ”I asked you to bring your altered beasts with the strongest physical strength. Where are they?”

A giant altered beast emerged from the portal. It looked like the Steel-clad Titan Amon fought during the Hyanid’s Worthiness Trial. That was because it was made by using that spirit beast as the main part.

Following behind the altered titan beast was Surressh. ”You called?” He asked.

Amon nodded at Surressh’s question. He then asked Dao Su, ”I asked for them. Why do you bring only one out?”

”This is the only one with a physical strength rivalling a Supreme Stage cultivator,” Dao Su answered.

”I gave you three Steel-clad Titans to experiment with. Where are the other two?”

”Um, they didn’t survive my experiments.”

Amon sighed. He looked at what he had. There were eight of them, not including Dao Su, since he was only a Malicious Stage cultivator. Eight breakers for ten chains.

”We will work with what we have,” Amon said. ”Zee Whang, mark the weak points in the chain. Everyone! Take a position beside the place marked by Zee Whang.”

Zee Whang carried out the instruction. The others went and stood beside the chain after Zee Whang marked them. Amon then gave each of them one bottle of the Dispelling Poison and instructed them on how to use it. They were to wait for his signal before pouring the poison.

After everyone took their position, Zee Whang asked, ”There are two unoccupied chains. How are we going to deal with them?”

”Everyone else breaks one chain. You and Di Ying will deal with two,” Amon answered.

”What? Why do I get two?” Zee Whang protested.

”You and Di Ying have the longest reach,” Amon explained. ”Now, stop wasting time and take your position!”

Zee Whang grumbled, but he did as instructed. Amon gave him and Di Ying the extra bottle of the Dispelling Poison. Amon explained to everyone to wait for his signals. There would be two, one to pour the poison and the other to break the chains.

Before he gave the signal, he warned everyone, ”I don’t have enough Dispelling Poison for a second attempt, so don’t fuck this up.”

After he saw that everyone understood his warning, he gave the first signal. Everyone poured the poison at the spots Zee Whang had marked. The liquid spread, dispelling the words of power. Amon remembered the rate at which it spread before it ran out. He waited until it spread to maximum state before he gave the second signal.

”Now!”

Everyone used their own method to break the chain. Amon used the Broken Justice. It shone brightly as it cut through the chain. Without the words of power’s protection, the broken sword easily sliced through the metal.

Bo Wu and Lin Li did it as spirit beasts would. They crunched the chain using their teeth before yanking it apart with their claws. Dao Su’s altered titan beast and Amon’s Titan Battle Puppet pummelled the chains till they were full of cracks before using their hands to pull them apart.

Di Ying’s serpentine body was long enough that she could grab one chain with her fore limbs and a neighboring chain with her hind limbs. Her power as a deity beast was tremendous. Even when she had not yet matured, she easily tore those chains apart.

Zee Whang’s Neo Supreme Puppet possessed many extra arms. Those arms could be extended. Half of those extra arms went to one chain, while the other half went to another. He expertly used the tools on those arms to perform the task. A drill bored through the chain, a burner melted the metal, a chainsaw cut, and a puncher cracked it, while clamps and other grabbing tools pulled the chains apart.

The only one who encountered trouble was Surressh. He used his spear to stab the chain. It pierced in, but not through. Cracks spread, but the chain didn’t break. He performed a martial art that delivered multiple stabs. They produced more cracks, but the chain remained attached.

”Fuck!” He cursed. His curse attracted the others. ”My arts aren’t strong enough to break this!”

”Haha! Useless!” Bo Wu laughed.

”Why are you laughing? If you don’t help, then move aside!” Lin Li scolded. She ran past Bo Wu and towards Surressh, but she was still two chains away. The words of power were already beginning to recover.

”Stay away!!” Di Ying exclaimed. She opened her jaws wide. Light accumulated before her open mouth.

Seeing that, Amon gave Lin Li a mental message to stop advancing. Surressh jumped away after hearing Di Ying’s warning. A searing beam shot out of Di Ying’s mouth. The beam travelled at light speed and smashed into the cracked chain. Unable to endure the force, the chain broke.

The instant the last chain was broken, the recovering words of power dissolved. The dissolving didn’t stop around the broken parts. It spread along the rest of the chains. When all the words of power were gone, the barrier encapsulating Di Yu also vanished.

As this happened, Mo Wang materialized before the broken gate into the chamber. His eyes were wide at the scene before him.

”No...! What have you fools done!!” He exclaimed.
