Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

Vol. 3 Chapter 120

After learning about Nacho’s background, the group returned to discussing plans for the upcoming Lantern Festival.

“So, Captain, what exactly is the plan?” Rebecca asked.

Leon explained, “The plan is pretty straightforward. We have a recording stone with a conversation between King Canter and Queen Elizabeth, which exposes their dirty tactics. All we need to do is make sure the Empire’s citizens see it. My idea is to gather more recording stones and attach them to paper lanterns during the festival. When thousands of lanterns are released into the sky, we can use the stones’ linking ability to display the recording across the night sky.”

Rebecca’s eyes lit up. “Oh, I see! This way, everyone in the country will see it!”

Nacho added, “Not just civilians. There are still some within the imperial army and royal family who are waiting for the chance to change things but are forced to lay low. If we can pull this off, some of them might support us.”

“So, if our lantern broadcast is a success, we might get support not just from the public but also from part of the army and the royal family?” Leon asked.

Nacho nodded. “But don’t get too excited. The people willing to openly oppose the Empire are still few, and we’ll still face hardcore loyalists and creatures like the elite squads and fusion beasts.”

Leon acknowledged this with a nod. “I suspected the Empire had cards up its sleeve, which is why I called in a few allies.”

Nacho raised an eyebrow. “A few allies? I only see the Silver Dragon Queen. Where are the others?”

Leon turned to Rebecca. “Where’s Claudia? Wasn’t she supposed to come with you?”

“Oh, your aunt said—”

“Hold on a second!” Nacho interjected, an unusual break from his usual politeness. Hearing Rebecca call Leon’s ally “aunt” threw him for a loop. “I remember reading your file; you grew up in an orphanage. Since when do you have an aunt?”

Rebecca, seizing her chance, raised her hand. “Captain’s aunt is Aunt Charlotte’s sister. They’re both dragons!”

Nacho scratched his head, trying to process this new information. *Who in the world designed this guy’s life? He’s not just married to a dragon queen—he’s related to them!*

Leon lightly pushed Rebecca’s face away, nudging her over to Rosvisser’s side. “Grown-ups are talking, kiddo.”

Rebecca pulled a face at Leon from behind Rosvisser, sticking her tongue out.

Leon returned his attention to Nacho. “She’s exaggerating. I only found out recently that my master’s wife is from the dragon clan.”

Nacho shrugged, as if this revelation no longer surprised him. It seemed Leon had a knack for unsettling Nacho, regardless of whether they were on the same side or not.

“So… where exactly is this ‘mystery ally,’ Claudia?” Nacho asked, glancing at Rebecca again.

“Oh, Aunt Claudia said she’s really interested in human culture, so she’s been spending all her time in the central district’s library,” Rebecca replied.

The Empire was divided into five districts: the royal city, the upper city, the central city, the lower city, and the slums, where Leon and his group were currently located. Wealth and resources followed the same hierarchy, with each district’s affluence decreasing accordingly.

“A library? If she’s just wandering around the Empire as a dragon, she’s bound to get noticed!” Leon said.

Rebecca shrugged. “Well, the Empire’s short-staffed with all the front-line conflicts, so patrols aren’t as frequent as before. Plus, the Lionheart Society has contacts in each district. Even you, as a wanted man, could walk the streets safely as long as you wore some simple disguise and avoided drawing attention.”

Leon raised an eyebrow. “You’ve infiltrated the Empire this thoroughly?”

Rebecca scratched her head. “Well, not entirely. The royal city and upper city are pretty strict. Aside from Martin, we don’t have strong insiders there. But in the central city and below, we have decent coverage.”

Pausing for a moment, she added, “So, Captain, if you wanted to go out for a stroll, we could arrange it. It’d be safe, I promise.”

Leon looked over at Rosvisser, a sudden idea forming in his mind. He opened his mouth but stopped short.

Forget it… there was work to do. No time for—

“Sis, you haven’t toured any human city districts before, right?” Rebecca asked, snapping Rosvisser from her thoughts.

“Uh… no, I haven’t,” she replied, slightly taken aback.

“With three days before the festival, why don’t you two go on a date beforehand?” Rebecca suggested.

Leon waved a hand dismissively. “Nonsense! We’re on the verge of war; there’s no time for dates!”

Rebecca squinted at him, noting the hesitation. While she wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, she could read the room just fine.

She’d noticed the way both Leon and Rosvisser seemed… preoccupied, especially after she mentioned they could safely venture outside. And what they were thinking, well, that was obvious.

But knowing how stubborn the two of them were, Rebecca wasn’t about to press the matter directly. So she tried a different angle.

“Captain, we still need more recording stones, and we don’t have enough just with our people here. So you and Sis will have to go on an external mission, okay?”

Leon stammered, “Uh…”

“Nacho, give them a budget for a date—I mean, for the mission. Don’t let them return until it’s spent,” Rebecca commanded, hands on her hips, taking charge.

Nacho chuckled and added, “Honestly, you two taking a day out won’t affect our plans for the Lantern Festival, as long as you’re back by midnight tomorrow.”

“Plus, Leon, it’s been years since you returned to the Empire. Setting aside the corrupt rulers, this is still your homeland. Before you save it, wouldn’t it be good to get a fresh look at what it’s like now?”

Between Rebecca’s insistence and Nacho’s appeals, Leon had no room to refuse without coming off as unreasonable.

Leon and Rosvisser exchanged a glance.

Finally, Leon sighed. “Fine. We’ll go out tomorrow and pick up some recording stones.”

Rebecca nodded approvingly, practically bouncing with excitement. “That’s the spirit! And take Sis around; show her the sights!”

Somehow, Leon couldn’t shake the feeling that Rebecca saw them as country bumpkins getting a taste of the big city.
