Chapter 466: Chapter 466: Promotion Assessment! (3 more)

In the outermost area of Heavenly Position Academy, where the Yellow Character Disciples were active, there was a crystal-clear stream called Yuan River, winding around the entire academy.

In Ling Feng’s memory, he had walked along this stream several times, always with different girls by his side.

It seemed that those girls always liked to walk by the riverside, a place imbued with the charm of poetry and paintings.

Following the riverbank, Ling Feng moved forward and finally saw the young girl waiting for him under a large tree ahead.

After a few swift movements, Ling Feng came to a stop and looked at the girl under the willow tree, revealing a faint smile and said softly, ”Miss Qin, you wanted to see me, what is it...?”

Before he could finish his sentence, he heard Qin Wanwan suddenly say, ”Ling Feng, I like you!”

The soft light of the setting sun shone onto the girl’s delicate cheeks, outlining a face of unparalleled beauty.

Ling Feng froze on the spot, his mouth still in the shape of the words he had been speaking, even doubting if he had misheard her.

Was this a confession?

Ling Feng was not a saint without desires. Being confessed to by a stunning beauty like Qin Wanwan, his heart could not remain undisturbed like a still well.

He even seriously considered the possibility of being with this girl before him for a moment.

But in the next instant, all the pleasant images in his mind were replaced by the face of a defiant young man, known as the ”Empire Legend.” His existence was like a thorn in Ling Feng’s side.

There was also his mysterious origins, the weight of everything he carried, like an invisible Devil Claw, making it hard for him to breathe.

At this moment, Qin Wanwan was also closely observing the expressions on Ling Feng’s face.

Her heart was extremely anxious; as a woman, confessing to the man she liked undeniably required great courage.

Her heart was pounding fast, almost as if it would leap out of her chest.

Seeing Ling Feng’s silence and his slightly evasive eyes, she bit her silver teeth and said with a smile, ”It’s okay, you don’t have to rush to respond to me. Silence is always better than rejection, right? I’ll make you understand that my liking you is not just something I say lightly.”

Having said that, Qin Wanwan turned around with a carefree air, bounding away like a carefree deer, not even giving Ling Feng a chance to speak.

Ling Feng watched Qin Wanwan’s retreating figure, the sudden confession, that inexplicable declaration, he stood still like a post, watching as her silhouette disappeared into the distance.

”Ah...”

In the end, all he could do was let out a soft sigh, destined to have no time for romantic dalliances but to relentlessly follow the lonely path of Martial Arts.

...

The next day, all the Yellow Character Sect Students from the East Courtyard gathered early at the Martial Arts Arena, waiting for the arrival of the Devil Instructor, Leng Jianfeng.

”Hmm, everyone is up early today, and you all seem to be in good spirits!”

Uncharacteristically, Leng Jianfeng didn’t start by mocking everyone and even unprecedentedly gave out some praise!

After all, he mused, he would no longer be their instructor soon. It’s always good to part on good terms; it cost nothing to say a few nice things in these last few days.

”But don’t you little brats think that just because I won’t be your instructor for much longer, you can secretly rejoice! Hmph, as long as I’m your instructor for a day, I can grind you for a day!”

As he spoke, the Devil Instructor revealed a sly grin, his large hand waving as he threw out a batch of Iron Armor, chuckling, ”Eight hundred catties of Iron Armor, everyone put it on!”

”Ah? We’re about to go to the promotion assessment, and we’re still training!” Wang Yishan was the first to complain with a gloomy face.

”Heh heh!” Leng Jianfeng, stroking his bearded chin, snorted, ”Put on the weight gear and keep up with my pace, let’s run together to the Assessment Hall!”

As he spoke, Leng Jianfeng leapt down from the high platform and curled his lip, ”I’m laying it out ugly from the start. If any of you arrive ten breaths after me, hmph, I’ll make sure you regret it!”

All the students of the East Courtyard Yellow Sect looked at one another, all of them complaining bitterly.

This guy was truly a ’Devil Instructor,’ he was really good at pushing people too far!

One student protested, ”Instructor Leng, this isn’t fair. Not only is your cultivation higher than ours, you’re telling us, who are wearing weight gear, to keep up with your speed? That’s impossible!”

”You can rest assured about that!”

Leng Jianfeng, grinning wide, said, ”I assure you that you can keep up with my speed. Don’t worry, the assessment is coming up, and I won’t make it too hard on you all. Just run around the Martial Arts Arena for ten laps first!”

”What?”

The students exchanged looks, all gnashing their teeth in hatred. This dude really wanted to make sure no one forgot about him!

”Alright, alright, what are you standing around for? Start!”

With that shout from Leng Jianfeng, the students had no choice but to hoist the 800 jin of weight gear and start running around the Martial Arts Arena, panting heavily.

Fortunately, their half-year of training had significantly improved everyone’s physical fitness. Running with 800 jin for ten laps didn’t use up too much of their physical strength, but had actually helped stretch their muscles.

After completing ten laps, Leng Jianfeng swaggered to the front of the group and said nonchalantly, ”Alright, keep up with me, let’s go report to the Assessment Hall!”

Before his words had even faded, Leng Jianfeng started using his movement technique, striding rapidly towards the Assessment Hall. In the blink of an eye, he had already dashed out more than a hundred meters.

The rest didn’t dare waste any more time, each employing their movement techniques, chasing after Leng Jianfeng at full speed. Over a hundred students quickly formed a long line.

Meanwhile, students from the other four academies’ Yellow Sect were also starting to gather at the Assessment Hall.

This final Martial Arts assessment was a joint one for all Five Academies, which could really inspire a competitive atmosphere, allowing most students to perform beyond their usual capabilities.

Roughly half an hour later, all 116 students from the East Courtyard Yellow Sect had gathered, while students from the other four academies had been waiting outside the Assessment Hall for some time.

”Hmph, what are those guys from the East Courtyard up to, making everyone from the other four academies wait just for them?”

”No matter what they’re doing, the East Courtyard is still the East Courtyard, always the last in ranking every year. Why bother with all this hassle!”

”Exactly, what’s the point of this weighted training? Are they planning to blame the weighted training for their poor performance after the assessment ends? Ha, the instructors from the East Courtyard sure are thinking ahead!”

Even though the East Courtyard had produced a few outstanding individuals this year, the excellence of one or two persons couldn’t change the overall level of the entire courtyard.

After all, the East Courtyard was still the weakest amongst the Five Academies.

Hearing these discussions, the students from the East Courtyard were filled with righteous indignation, but that ’Devil Instructor,’ Leng Jianfeng, seemed as if he hadn’t heard a thing, simply instructing the students to stow away their Iron Armor and form up, ready for assessment.

However, because of this ordeal, each student from the East Courtyard was holding back a fierce anger, and they were bound to perform exceptionally well in the upcoming assessment.

”Alright, the Yellow Sect Students’ promotion assessment officially begins!”

The person in charge of this assessment was an Academician from the Heavenly Position Academy, Ye Guichen.

With a wave of Ye Guichen’s hand, the doors of the Assessment Hall swung open with a ”clang.”

Two young men in white robes came out from the doors, bowing respectfully to Academician Ye, ”Academician Ye, the Phantom Sound Bronze Bell is ready for use.”
