I Am Diagnosed as a Medical Titan

Chapter 265: Chapter 174: Surgery Addiction Acting Up (Part 2)

Everyone had seen the change in people like Cheng Xiyao and Chen Hao before and after they joined the group.

Who wouldn’t want to go in there and burnish their reputation?

Zhou Yang grabbed Lin Yue’s arm. ”Lin Yue, did you hear that? This is another chance!”

Lin Yue nodded seriously. ”It is.”

’It felt like failing the first interview but getting a callback for the second!’

Zhou Yang said, ”We have to seize it this time. We absolutely can’t get cut again.”

Lin Yue said, ”Def! In! Ite! Ly!”

Just then.

A young man and woman slipped in through the back door.

The guy was Chen Jiahao from Class 1, and the girl was Li Qiuyue from Class 3.

Neither of them knew Jiang He well, and they were both the type who didn’t pay much attention to their major-specific courses.

Jiahao was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt with a gold-foil skull, had a spiky hairstyle, and wore a silver dog tag necklace—the classic 2008 ”non-mainstream” cool guy look.

Qiyue’s outfit was similar, its main theme being ”casual,” as if she’d had Dou Bao pick it out for her.

In any case, the two of them quietly slipped into seats in the back row.

After observing for a moment, Chen Jiahao whispered to the student in front of him, ”Hey, man, what’s going on? Isn’t this Old Yang’s class today? Why the substitute? Who’s this guy?”

The guy in front turned around. ”Brother Jiahao, you don’t recognize him?”

”I don’t.”

”It’s Jiang He! The legend from our year, Jiang He!”

”Oh...” Chen Jiahao’s eyes widened in realization. ”So *this* is that Jiang He guy.”

Of course, he had heard Jiang He’s name before.

For the better part of the last month, that name was the most talked-about topic at all of Southern Medical University.

Publishing in a top journal, winning the competition with a perfect score, graduating early—the stories about him were practically mythical.

But Chen Jiahao’s mind was usually on things outside of school, so this was his first time actually getting a close look at the famous figure.

’Seeing is believing. He really did become our teacher...’

On the lecture stage, Jiang He began the class.

He casually opened the PowerPoint, and with a quick glance, he knew exactly where Yang Xu had left off.

Then, he began speaking effortlessly:

”Last class, we covered inspection and auscultation in abdominal examinations. Today, we’ll discuss palpation.”

”The textbook describes palpation techniques in great detail—light palpation, deep palpation, bimanual palpation. Memorizing those will be fine for passing the final exam, but in a clinical setting, it’s far from enough.”

”I’m only going to cover the key points that the book doesn’t explain thoroughly.”

”The first step of palpation is...”

”...Now, let’s talk about rebound tenderness.”

”The book says to press down on the palpation site for a moment, then lift your fingers quickly. But what does ’quickly’ mean?”

”Clinically, we generally control the time for this lifting motion to about 0.5 seconds.”

All the students in the lecture hall lowered their heads to take notes.

”Professor!”

Chen Jiahao raised his hand.

Jiang He stopped his explanation. ”Go ahead.”

Chen Jiahao asked, ”Professor, for the 0.5 seconds, can I write ’one-half of a second’ when I’m writing case files or answering exam questions later?”

”Suit yourself.”

”Okay.”

Chen Jiahao sat back down, feeling pleased with himself.

He had the kind of personality that loved to show off. Being able to act clever in front of the most badass guy in their year, Jiang He, without getting told off made him feel like he’d gained a lot of face.

Jiang He continued the lecture.

Cai Zhuoqun was listening right beside him.

When Yang Xu had initially asked him to give the lesson plan to Jiang He for the substitute lecture, he had been a little worried.

He was worried Jiang He wouldn’t be able to command the stage.

But now, Cai Zhuoqun was completely won over.

The content of Jiang He’s lecture was packed with substance.

It was as if he had summarized years of hands-on experience from clinical practice.

Some of the insights were things that even Cai Zhuoqun himself hadn’t grasped so thoroughly when he followed Yang Xu on his rounds.

’He’s too good...’

Cai Zhuoqun sighed inwardly as he took notes.

Watching the senior brother on stage—who was several years younger than him—he finally understood why Director Yang had dared to let him substitute for a major lecture.

The class period passed quickly.

”Take a ten-minute break.”

Jiang He stepped down from the stage and walked straight over to where Cheng Xiyao and Chen Hao were sitting.

”Boss!”

”How’s the progress at the lab?”

”Last night, we finished extracting the RNA from the first two batches of serum. The lysis effect of the Trizol LS was excellent, and the phase separation after standing was very clear.”

Jiang He nodded. ”Pay attention to the details I mentioned. Don’t forget.”

”Understood.”

Meanwhile, at the back of the classroom.

Chen Jiahao was getting restless.

He started pacing back and forth in the aisle, like a lion surveying its territory.

As he walked, he randomly did a crossover dribble fake.

Then he jumped in place and took a phantom shot.

”SWISH—”

Chen Jiahao even supplied the sound effect with his mouth.

A few guys walking past shot him a look like he was an idiot and walked around him.

Completely unfazed, Chen Jiahao walked to the back door and clapped a guy who was enjoying the breeze in the corridor on the shoulder. ”Hey, man, wanna go shoot some hoops outside after class?”

The guy gave him a strained smile. ”Bro, it’s raining outside.”

Chen Jiahao was completely unconcerned. ”No problem. Playing in the rain is where it’s at, you get me?”

The corner of the guy’s mouth twitched. ”I don’t get it. I feel like I’d just catch a cold.”

Chen Jiahao scoffed, turned around, walked back into the classroom, and flopped down next to Li Qiuyue. ”This bunch is so lame.”

Li Qiuyue was busy touching up her makeup and ignored him.

Ten minutes later, the second half of the class began.

Jiang He continued his lecture on the palpation of abdominal masses and the percussion of the liver, gallbladder, and spleen.

The whole process remained smooth and concise.

Until the bell signaling the end of class rang.

Li Wei closed his notebook and let out a long breath.

He looked at Jiang He on the stage, his feelings a complicated mix.

Before, he had thought about competing with Jiang He, but now, the guy was standing on a stage lecturing him, and he had to take frantic notes just to keep up.

”Good thing...” Li Wei mumbled under his breath, ”’Good thing I chose to respect Jiang He back then, otherwise...’”

On the stage, Jiang He saw everything as clear as day.

Although his lecture had been packed with substance, he had noticed that quite a few people below were still zoning out.

It couldn’t be helped.

Young people don’t understand the importance of mastering a skill. They always feel that the future hasn’t arrived yet, that it’s still far away.

However, there were also things that pleased him.

Li Wei had listened very attentively and his notes were comprehensive.

Then there were Zhou Yang and Lin Yue.

Those two had behaved exceptionally well today.

Although watching them be all lovey-dovey every day was a bit annoying, being capable workers was a good thing.

And also Cai Zhuoqun, sitting beside him and writing furiously.

’Senior Brother Cai... uh, no, Junior Brother Cai. This guy’s character is definitely solid, and he’s a steady worker. I can pull him in directly.’

Jiang He announced:

”That’s all for today. If I call your name, please stay behind.”

”Li Wei.”

”Zhou Yang, Lin Yue.”

”Cai Zhuoqun.”

”And Chen Hao, you stay too.”

”Everyone else is dismissed.”

The students began to pack their bags, leaving in twos and threes.

As they passed the stage, many of his old classmates from Class 2 greeted Jiang He warmly and cracked a joke or two.

Jiang He smiled and responded to each of them, not putting on any airs just because he was in the role of a teacher now.

When Chen Jiahao reached the edge of the stage, he spoke up, ”Professor, how come you didn’t pick me to stay behind?”

Jiang He said, ”Your performance wasn’t good enough.”

Chen Jiahao went ”Oh,” then said, ”Well, I’ll definitely perform better next time, Professor. By the way, Professor, do you play Audition Online? I’m super good, I can carry you.”

Jiang He replied, ”...I don’t.”

”Oh, okay, okay. I’m out, Professor~”

Out in the corridor, the rain outside seemed to have gotten a little heavier.

Chen Jiahao suddenly scratched his spiky hair in frustration and said to Li Qiuyue,

”Let’s go, let’s go. We need to hurry to Party-World and see if she’s still there.”

Li Qiuyue said worriedly, ”Yeah, she was there all last night. We told her to come home, but she wouldn’t...”

”What else can we do? We have to go take care of her. I don’t get what she has to fight with her old man about. Seriously, every time they argue, she runs off and torments herself. Let’s go, we’ll grab a cab.”

...

「In the lecture hall.」

Jiang He said, ”Joining the group is the same as before. There’s an exam. Chen Hao, I’ll give you the test papers, and you’ll be in charge of proctoring. Just don’t deliberately print so many extra copies for me this time.”

Chen Hao scratched his head. ”Got it, hehe.”

”Alright, you’re all dismissed.”

After everyone had left.

Jiang He turned to Cai Zhuoqun and said, ”Sen... Junior Brother, thank you for your hard work.”

Cai Zhuoqun quickly waved his hands. ”No, no, not at all. Senior Brother, you... your lecture was incredible. I-I learned so much today. I’ll head back now. If Director Yang needs anything, I-I’ll contact you right away.”

”Okay.”

Jiang He turned and glanced at the rain outside the window.

The downpour was gradually getting stronger.

’Hmm, no point in going back to the dorm now. Might as well head over to the department office.’

’The surgery addiction is kicking in. Who gets it?’

’I want to do five more surgeries, I just can’t stop (singing)~’
